The UPS on the network,
with no PC plugged into it.
Slid into the back of a Delta UPS, this InsightPower card gives it its own IP address: you monitor it from any workstation, it sends e-mail alerts and it triggers the shutdown of your servers.
Where it goes: the Smart slot
On the Amplon RT, the Smart slot is a screwed cover marked “SMART SLOT” on the rear panel: on the right on the 1 kVA model, at the top, above the C19 outlet, on the 2 and 3 kVA. The card plugs in through its gold-finger edge connector and draws its power from the UPS, 9 to 24 V DC.

Two LEDs, two switches
In normal operation, the green LED stays on and the yellow one flashes every 0.2 second. A yellow LED slowing down to once per second means the link with the UPS is lost; a green LED that goes off means a hardware or network fault. The two DIP switches select the mode: both OFF for network operation, both ON for configuration through the COM port.
Card installed but silent on the network? Check the DIP switches first: in normal service, both must be OFF, their factory position.

Is this card compatible with my Amplon RT 1, 2 or 3 kVA UPS?
Yes. The Amplon RT 1, 2 and 3 kVA have a Smart slot on the rear panel designed for an SNMP card, a relay card or a Modbus card: the 3915100120-S plugs in through its gold-finger edge connector and draws its power from the UPS. Delta also specifies it for its R, M, Gaia, EH, HPH, NH Plus, DPH and DPS series.
Can it be installed in an Amplon N 2 or 3 kVA UPS?
No. Current Amplon N units do not have a Smart slot but a smaller Mini slot, which takes the Mini SNMP IPv6 card (SCMS100035). The two formats are not interchangeable. Agilon VX units have no card slot at all and are managed only through their USB port.
What does an SNMP card do on a UPS?
It gives the UPS a network address. You check its status and power cuts from a browser or an SNMP monitoring tool, receive an e-mail or a trap at every power event, and the InsightPower Client or SNMP Shutdown Agent software shuts the servers down cleanly before the runtime runs out. No need to connect the UPS to a computer's serial port any more.
Does the card support IPv6 and SNMPv3?
No. This is the IPv4 generation of the InsightPower card: it communicates over SNMPv1, HTTP, Telnet, FTP and TFTP, without HTTPS or SSH. If your network requires IPv6 or SNMPv3, you need a newer-generation card. On an IPv4 local network, it monitors the UPS and triggers server shutdown with no other equipment.
How do I connect to the card for the first time?
On a network with a DHCP server, the card obtains an address automatically: open a browser on its host name InsightPower, with the admin account and the password password, to be changed straight away. Without DHCP, the EzSetting utility finds it on the local network, or you go through the COM port in console mode. Its factory address is 192.168.1.100.
Can it shut down my servers automatically during a power cut?
Yes. Installed on each server, InsightPower Client or SNMP Shutdown Agent talk to the card over the network and close the system cleanly when the UPS switches to battery. The card then switches the UPS off after the delay you have set, to prevent deep discharge of the battery.
Can the temperature and humidity of the rack be monitored?
Yes, with an environmental sensor box sold separately, connected to the card's COM port. It adds the ambient temperature and humidity to the UPS readings, in the same web interface. To connect this box, the card's DIP switches are set to the mode provided for sensors.
