A UPS that adapts to the site

A server in an air-conditioned room does not have the needs of a switch at the end of an unreliable line. The Amplon RT 2K picks its operating mode from its front panel: full double conversion, energy saving when the mains is clean, or a fixed output frequency for imported equipment.

Five modes, one unit

All are selected from the front panel, without software.

Online
The default mode: power is rebuilt continuously, within ± 1% voltage and ± 0.05 Hz, and switching to battery cuts nothing. Efficiency up to 94%.
ECO
To enable on a site with stable mains: as long as the voltage stays within ± 10% and the frequency within ± 5 Hz, the grid feeds the equipment and efficiency rises up to 97%. Beyond that, the UPS takes over immediately.
Bypass
The equipment runs directly on the mains while the batteries recharge; it is also the fallback, in online operation, above 150% load.
Battery
When power fails, the batteries take over without interruption; the buzzer beeps every two seconds, then every half second when the reserve runs low.
Converter
The output is locked at 50 Hz or 60 Hz, whatever the grid frequency. The bypass is then disabled: if the UPS stops, the output stops with it.

A C19 outlet for the power-hungry device

Next to the six C13 outlets in two groups, a C19 outlet alone accepts up to 9 A: that is where the server or storage array with a 16 A cord plugs in. The UPS connects through a C20 inlet protected by a 15 A breaker, with the 16 A input cord included.

On top the UPS, below the 48 V external battery pack, sold as an option.

The battery test starts from the front panel. Three seconds on the ON button, one beep, and the UPS runs ten seconds on battery to check that it holds; UPSentry 2012 software can also schedule it at regular intervals.

Frequently asked questions about this product

Can the Amplon RT 2K be installed in a 19-inch rack?
Yes. It takes 2U in a 19-inch rack, with its mounting brackets and rail kit included in the box; allow 432 mm of depth. It can also stand upright in tower format with the optional Delta tower stand kit; its LCD screen swivels to stay readable in both positions.
How much runtime does the Delta Amplon RT 2K offer?
About 7 min at 75% load with its internal batteries. To last longer, it connects to an optional Delta 48 V external battery pack (same 2U format), which can be added or removed without powering down the equipment. Cutting secondary loads on battery also extends the runtime of essential devices.
Can the batteries of the Amplon RT 2K be replaced without shutting everything down?
Yes, its internal batteries are hot-swappable: the equipment stays powered during the intervention. They are sealed, maintenance-free 12 V / 9 Ah lead-acid batteries; replacement must be done or supervised by a qualified technician, using the same number and type of batteries.
How can the Delta Amplon RT 2K be monitored?
Through its USB or RS-232 port with the UPSentry 2012 software: automatic server shutdown, event log, battery self-test and remaining-time estimate. Its SMART slot accepts an optional SNMP card for network monitoring, a relay card or a Modbus card, and a REPO contact allows remote emergency power off.
What does the ECO mode of the Amplon RT 2K do?
It raises efficiency from 94% to 97%. As long as mains voltage and frequency stay within ± 10% and ± 5 Hz of their nominal values, the equipment is powered by the grid; beyond that, the UPS immediately takes it back in double conversion. It is enabled from the panel, and is best kept for sites where power is stable.
