This product is covered for 3 years by a manufacturer's warranty (the brand's official warranty). Your iris.ma invoice serves as the warranty document: keep it safe.

A high-power online UPS for server rooms: online double conversion, 6 kVA / 5400 W.
Technology & protection: power is fully and continuously regenerated — the equipment is never exposed to the mains, with zero transfer time. Maximum protection against outages, surges, voltage fluctuations and electrical noise.
Power: 6 kVA for 5400 W of real power (0.9 power factor) — almost all of the rated power is available in watts.

Frequently asked questions about this product

Are batteries supplied with the Aster 6KT UPS?
No. It is supplied without batteries: you need to provide 16 12 V lead-acid batteries, 7 Ah or 9 Ah, ordered separately and housed inside the UPS. Factor them into both the budget and the installation schedule: without them, no backup is provided during a power cut.
How long does the UPS actually last during a power cut?
With its 16 internal 9 Ah batteries: 50 min at 25% load, 19 min at 50%, 11 min at 75% and 6 min at full load, with new, fully charged batteries. At full load, those 6 minutes are for a clean shutdown of the machines: size the actual load according to the runtime you need.
Can runtime be extended beyond a few minutes?
Yes, by adding a second pack of 16 batteries: runtime rises to 115 min at 25% load, 50 min at 50%, 28 min at 75% and 19 min at full load. The TA1611KX tower battery cabinet is designed to hold these 16 12 V batteries on the Aster 6K and 10K.
How long does it take to recharge the batteries after a power cut?
About 5 hours to recover 90% of capacity, with recharging starting automatically when mains power returns. Keep this delay in mind on an unstable grid: two outages in quick succession will not find the batteries full. Battery level and remaining runtime are shown on the colour LCD screen.
How is it connected? Are there outlets to plug the servers into?
There are no outlets: the output is on a wired terminal block, as fixed wiring installed by an electrician. It is equipment for a technical room, not a UPS you put under a desk and plug into a power strip. Both input and output are single-phase, with earth.
What does online double conversion offer compared with a conventional UPS?
Power is continuously regenerated: the equipment never touches the grid directly and the transfer time is zero. The output is a pure sine wave, regulated to ±1% in battery mode — exactly what server power supplies and critical racks expect.
How many watts are actually usable from 6000 VA?
5400 W, thanks to an output power factor of 0.9: almost all of the apparent power is available in watts. Add up the actual consumption of your racks before sizing, keeping a margin below those 5400 W. Efficiency reaches ≥ 92% in inverter mode and ≥ 96% in ECO mode.
Can it be installed in an occupied office?
It is better placed in a technical room: it emits less than 55 dB continuously and measures 196 × 702 × 412 mm, weighing 20.55 kg empty, batteries not included. Its operating range is 0 to 40 °C and up to 90% humidity non-condensing.
Does it work with a generator or on an unstable grid?
Yes: it is generator-compatible and accepts an input voltage of 80 to 300 V at a frequency of 45 to 66 Hz. This very wide range lets it stay in mains mode despite large fluctuations, instead of constantly drawing on the batteries. The output voltage can be set to 208, 220, 230 or 240 V.
Can two units be installed in parallel to double the power?
No, parallel operation is not supported on the Aster 6KT. To cover a load above 5400 W, you should go for a higher-power model rather than adding a second UPS. However, nothing prevents you from adding a battery cabinet for longer runtime.
Can this UPS be monitored remotely over the network?
Yes: USB HID, RS232, SNMP and EPO ports, with the PowerMaster or PowerGuide management software, available to download online. An optional PM SNMP card adds centralised monitoring and support for an environmental sensor. The colour LCD screen shows status, load, battery level and faults locally.
What happens in the event of an overload?
The UPS raises an alert and then transfers to its internal bypass: 10 min tolerance between 105 and 110% load, 1 min between 110 and 130%, 3 seconds above that. In battery mode, the same thresholds trigger a shutdown rather than a transfer — which is why it pays not to load the unit to its maximum.
Can it be started without mains power, and does it restart on its own after a long outage?
Yes to both: cold start lets you switch it on from battery with no mains, and automatic restart brings the output back on as soon as power returns. An EPO function also allows an emergency shutdown of the installation.
Is the UPS new, and how long is the warranty?
It is new, in its original packaging and supplied with its invoice, with a 3-year warranty. It complies with the CE and RoHS directives. Full specifications are given in the datasheet (PDF).
