A high-power online UPS for critical infrastructure: online double conversion, 10 kVA / 8000 W. Technology & protection: power is fully and continuously regenerated — the equipment is never exposed to the mains, with zero transfer time. Maximum protection against outages, surges, voltage fluctuations and electrical noise. Power: 10 kVA for 8000 W of real power — sized for server racks. Runtime: about 15 minutes at half load (4000 W), 9 minutes at 70%; can be extended with external battery cabinets. Ports: terminal block connection (hard-wired by an electrician); USB port, serial port and slot for an SNMP network card. Active cooling (≈ 55 dB), to be installed in a technical room. LCD display: shows load, battery level and remaining runtime at a glance — so you can monitor the UPS without any software. Designed, for example, for server racks, network equipment or industrial applications. Remember to check how much power your equipment draws and to choose the rating according to the runtime you need.

Frequently asked questions about this product
Can ordinary power plugs be connected to this UPS?
No. Both input and output are on a terminal block: fixed wiring to be done by an electrician, not outlets you plug a cord into. The same terminal block also takes the maintenance bypass connections.
How long does the 9E10KI actually run on battery?
About 15 minutes with 4,000 W of load, and 9 minutes with 5,600 W. An audible alarm signals the switch to battery. These times are indicative: they depend on the equipment, the age of the batteries and the temperature.
Can the runtime be extended later, without changing the UPS?
Yes, by adding up to 4 external 9EEBM240 battery cabinets, via the EBM connector provided on the UPS. At half load, runtime goes from 15 minutes to 60 minutes with one cabinet and up to 170 minutes with four. Each cabinet weighs 132 kg: set aside the floor space from the start of the installation.
10 kVA: how many watts is that for my equipment?
8,000 W of usable power. That is the figure to compare against the actual consumption of your servers, not the 10 kVA. Load directly affects runtime, which goes from 15 minutes at 4,000 W to 9 minutes at 5,600 W.
What happens if the UPS itself fails?
An internal bypass takes over and keeps powering the equipment in the event of a fault. A maintenance bypass comes as standard, connected to the same terminal block as the input and output: it lets you replace the UPS without cutting power to the connected equipment.
Will it draw on the batteries every time the mains voltage fluctuates?
No. It regulates on its own between 176 and 276 V without using the batteries and acts as a voltage stabiliser; for frequency, it accepts 45 to 66 Hz with 50/60 Hz auto-sensing. Double conversion continuously regenerates an output of 220/230/240 V ±2% with less than 3% distortion.
Can it handle overloads when machines start up?
Yes, within precise limits: 5 minutes between 105 and 110% load, 1 minute between 110 and 130%, 10 seconds between 130 and 150%, then 100 ms beyond that. Enough to absorb a brief inrush current, provided you keep some headroom below the 8,000 W.
Can it be installed in an occupied office?
Better to avoid it: its active cooling runs continuously at under 55 dB at one metre, and an audible alarm may add to that. It belongs in a ventilated technical room, kept between 0 and 40 °C.
Can it be monitored remotely and shut down the servers automatically?
It has a USB port and an RS232 serial port — usable one or the other, never at the same time — and the Intelligent Power software, compatible with the main operating systems as well as VMware and Hyper-V. SNMP network monitoring requires an optional Network-MS card. Locally, the LCD screen shows load, batteries, voltages and frequencies.
How much energy does the UPS consume for itself?
Its efficiency reaches 93% in online mode and 97% in ECO mode. The LCD screen shows the actual load level, which is useful for checking the operating point once the installation is up and running.
What weight and footprint should you plan for when installing it?
It weighs 85.4 kg and measures 708.5 × 262.4 × 612.9 mm in tower format, sitting on castors that let you move it once on the floor. Check that it will fit through the doors, and allow space for the EBM cabinets (132 kg each) if you plan to add any.
Which standards does the safety of this Eaton UPS rely on?
It complies with IEC/EN 62040-1 for safety and IEC/EN 62040-2 for performance and electromagnetic compatibility, with CE marking and a CB report issued by TÜV, an external body.
Is the Eaton 9E10KI UPS new and under warranty?
Yes: new and sealed equipment, supplied with its invoice, which serves as the warranty document (1 year, Eaton's standard term for this range). Runtimes, connections and battery cabinet part numbers are listed in the Eaton datasheet (PDF).
