One tower, three ways to wire it
The Garun 20KL is configured according to the installation it protects. On a three-phase board, it powers three-phase equipment or brings the load onto a single output phase; on a single-phase supply, it runs single-phase end to end. The output voltage is then set between 380 and 415 V in three-phase, or between 220 and 240 V in single-phase.
3:3Three-phase in, three-phase out: 3 × 400 V with neutral.
3:1Three-phase in, a single phase out for single-phase loads.
1:1Single-phase end to end, on a 230 V supply.
Efficiency that holds at every load
On a machine running day and night, every point of efficiency turns into heat to remove and energy consumed. In double conversion, the Garun 20KL stays above 93% from a quarter load and peaks at half load; in ECO mode, it reaches 98.5%. Active power factor correction on each phase gives the grid a factor of at least 0.99 at full load.

Batteries sized to the installation
No battery is fitted at the factory. The tower can take 32 to 40 blocks of 12 V, 7 or 9 Ah, and external cabinets can also carry the runtime. The smart charger is adjustable from 1 to 12 A to recharge a large battery bank within a reasonable time. An isolation transformer is available as an option: it then takes the place of the internal batteries, and all the backup goes through the cabinets.
Touch-controlled, monitored remotely
A 5-inch touch screen shows the UPS mimic diagram, from the mains input to the output. For central monitoring, it offers USB and RS232 ports, an emergency power off (EPO) input and an intelligent slot that takes an SNMP or Modbus card. The ViewPower Network Edition and VMware Shutdown Wizard software organise the shutdown of servers when the runtime is running out.
Designed never to cut the load
The maintenance bypass powers the equipment directly from the grid during work on the UPS. The dual input accepts a generator, and several Garun 20KL units can be paralleled for the redundancy of a critical load. Connection is made on a terminal block by an electrician; two fans at the back dissipate up to 3381 BTU/h in mains mode.

Frequently asked questions about this product
Are batteries supplied with the Garun 20KL?
No. No batteries are factory-fitted: the UPS houses 32 to 40 12 V lead-acid blocks of 7 or 9 Ah internally, or connects to external battery cabinets in strings of 16 to 20 blocks. The number of batteries sets the runtime: decide it with the installer, according to the load to back up and the target duration.
Can it be used in three-phase as well as single-phase?
Yes: it can be configured as three-phase / three-phase (3:3), three-phase input and single-phase output (3:1) or single-phase / single-phase (1:1). The nominal input is 3 × 400 V with neutral in three-phase and 230 V in single-phase; the output can be set to 380, 400 or 415 V three-phase, or 220, 230 or 240 V single-phase.
How many usable watts does 20 kVA give?
20 kW: the output power factor is 1.0, all the apparent power is available in watts. Only an output setting of 360 V three-phase or 208 V single-phase derates the power to 90%. Take stock of the real consumption of the server room or workshop and keep a margin below these 20 kW.
What runtime can be expected from the Garun 20KL?
It depends entirely on the batteries installed: their number, from 32 to 40 blocks internally or more with external cabinets, their capacity of 7 or 9 Ah and the connected load. The smart charger is adjustable from 1 to 12 A to match the size of the chosen battery bank.
What efficiency in double conversion and in ECO mode?
In double conversion, efficiency reaches 96.30% at half load and remains at least 95.5% at full load; in ECO mode, it rises to 98.5%. On a 20 kW installation running day and night, these points limit the heat released, at most 3381 BTU/h in mains mode, and the consumption.
Can the UPS be serviced without shutting down the equipment?
Yes: the maintenance bypass powers the load directly from the mains during work on the UPS. In normal operation, switching from the inverter to the automatic bypass takes zero time, just like the changeover from mains to batteries during an outage.
Is it suitable for a generator supply?
Yes: it has a dual input for generators and accepts, in three-phase, 190 to 520 V at half load and 305 to 478 V at full load, over 46 to 54 Hz. Active power factor correction on all phases, at 0.99 or more, avoids overloading the generator with parasitic currents.
How is the Garun 20KL monitored?
As standard, it offers USB, RS232 and EPO ports, plus an intelligent slot that takes an optional SNMP or Modbus card for monitoring over the network. The ViewPower Network Edition and VMware Shutdown Wizard software orchestrate the orderly shutdown of servers; locally, the 5-inch touch screen shows the status of the UPS.
How much space should be planned for installation?
It measures 250 × 626 × 826 mm and weighs 49.8 kg without batteries; input and output are wired on a terminal block by an electrician. Plan a ventilated technical room: it emits less than 65 dB at 1 m, dissipates up to 4115 BTU/h on battery and its protection rating is IP20.
Can an isolation transformer be added?
Yes, an isolation transformer is available as an option. It fits in the space intended for the internal batteries: with it, the runtime relies entirely on external battery cabinets. It is a choice to make from the design stage of the installation.
Can several Garun 20KL units be paralleled?
Yes, parallel operation of several Garun 20KL units is provided for by the manufacturer, to secure a critical load through redundancy or to increase the available power. It is decided at the design stage of the installation, with the terminal block wiring of the different UPS units.
How does it react to an overload?
It withstands 100 to 110% load for 60 min, 110 to 125% for 10 min and 125 to 150% for 1 min, in mains mode as well as on battery. Beyond 150%, the protection acts immediately: it is best to size the installation to stay below 20 kW in normal operation.
