This product is covered for 1 year by a manufacturer's warranty (the brand's official warranty). Your iris.ma invoice serves as the warranty document: keep it safe.

Frequently asked questions about this product

How long does the 9E3000IR run on battery?
10.5 minutes at half load and 3.5 minutes at full load: the two values are not read the same way, and the one that matches your actual load is the one to use. For longer runtime, the UPS accepts up to four external battery modules.
What does double conversion offer compared with a line-interactive UPS?
The power is entirely regenerated: rectified then fed back out continuously, it no longer depends on the waveform or frequency of the mains, and there is no transfer time during a power cut. The UPS takes in 140 to 276 V and 40 to 70 Hz at the input, and delivers 230 V regulated to ±2%.
Is the output a pure sine wave?
Yes, the output waveform is sinusoidal, with voltage distortion kept below 3% on a linear load. This is what the power-factor-corrected power supplies of servers require, as they cope poorly with a stepped waveform.
Which output outlets does the 9E3000IR UPS have?
Six C13 outlets — the format used by computer and server power cords — and one heavy-duty C19 outlet, intended for high-current equipment. Two IEC-IEC output cords come with the UPS; for more than two machines, make sure you have your own cords.
What rack depth do you need for this 2U unit?
608 mm deep, 438 mm wide and 2U high (86.5 mm), in 19-inch format, with rails and mounting brackets included. It is a long chassis: check the usable depth of your cabinet and the cable clearance at the rear before ordering.
How much does the UPS weigh, and does it take two people to rack it?
31.3 kg, due to the six 12 V / 9 Ah batteries inside. At this weight, racking it is a two-person job, and the unit goes at the bottom of the cabinet: safer for the rack and for the back of whoever installs it.
Can the batteries be changed without shutting down the servers?
Yes, the batteries are hot-swappable. The UPS also has an internal bypass that keeps the equipment powered if the UPS fails or in the event of a downstream short circuit: service does not stop for a maintenance operation.
Is the 9E3000IR quiet enough for an office?
It is rated at less than 45 dB at one metre. That is well above a desktop tower UPS, and consistent with its intended use: an IT rack or a technical room, rather than a workstation occupied all day.
How much heat does the UPS give off in the technical room?
818 BTU per hour in online operation, with an efficiency of 91%, rising to 97% in ECO mode. This is the figure to add to the rack's heat load when sizing the room's air conditioning.
How do you trigger a clean shutdown of the servers before the battery runs out?
Via the HID-compatible USB port or the RS-232 serial port, with the Eaton Intelligent Power Manager and Intelligent Power Protector software. A mini terminal block also allows remote power off, and a dry contact reports the status to existing monitoring.
Can the UPS be monitored directly over the network?
Not as it stands: no network card is supplied and there is no built-in Ethernet interface. A communication card slot is provided to add one as an option; without this card, monitoring goes through the USB or RS-232 connection of a machine linked to the UPS.
What does the UPS screen show, without installing any software?
A multilingual LCD display brings together on a single screen the load level, battery level, input and output voltages and frequency. Enough to check where you actually stand: closer to half load, so around ten minutes of runtime, or closer to full load.
Why is this UPS rated at 2700 W for 3000 VA?
Because of its 0.9 output power factor: 3000 × 0.9 = 2700 W actually available. It is this figure in watts, never the VA, that determines what the UPS can carry — compare it against the combined consumption of your servers, storage and network equipment.
Is the Eaton 9E 9E3000IR new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. The box contains the UPS, two IEC-IEC cords, a USB cable, the rack-mount kit, the safety instructions and the quick start guide; the datasheet details all the electrical values.
