How long does the SRV6KI run on battery?
About 11 minutes at half load, i.e. at 3000 W, and 7 minutes at 70% load, i.e. 4200 W. The two figures do not describe the same situation: the one that matches your actual load is the one to use when planning your shutdown procedure.
How is the SRV6KI connected, and do you need an electrician?
It has no outlets: both input and output are wired to a 3-wire terminal block (phase, neutral, earth). The connection is therefore fixed wiring, to be done by an electrician, and the distribution board must be prepared before commissioning — this is the point to plan for as early as possible.
Why is this UPS rated at 6000 W for 6000 VA?
Because its power factor is 1: all of the apparent power is available in watts. On an entry-level UPS with a 0.6 power factor, only 3600 would remain. It is the figure in watts that determines what you can connect.
What input voltage does the SRV6KI accept before drawing on the battery?
176 to 300 V at full load, and an even wider window, 110 to 300 V, at 60% load. These two ranges are not interchangeable: the more you load the UPS, the narrower the tolerance. Frequency is accepted from 40 to 70 Hz with automatic sensing.
Is the output a sine wave, and how clean is it?
Yes, a sine wave, with 1% harmonic distortion and a 3:1 crest factor. In double conversion, this signal is continuously regenerated: your equipment never sees the actual waveform of the mains, whatever its quality.
How much floor space does the UPS take up, and how much does it weigh?
68.5 cm high, 19 cm wide and 37.4 cm deep, weighing 54 kg. It is a narrow but very heavy tower unit, to be stood upright on the floor: it cannot be rack-mounted, unlike the rack versions in the same range.
Can the servers stay powered during UPS maintenance?
Yes, it has an automatic and manual internal bypass: the manual bypass lets you deliberately switch the equipment to direct mains power, while the automatic one takes over in the event of a fault. Conversely, an emergency power off (EPO) button lets you cut everything in one move.
How much heat and noise should you allow for in the room?
1172 BTU per hour of heat dissipation and a noise level of 55 dBA. These are two reasons to place it in a technical room rather than an office: it is clearly audible, and its heat must be factored into the air-conditioning calculation.
How long does it take to recharge the batteries after a power cut?
4 hours for a full recharge, on a 192 V sealed lead-acid battery rated for 3 to 5 years of service. Until the recharge is complete, the available runtime remains below the nominal 11 minutes.
How do you shut down the servers powered by the SRV6KI cleanly?
Via the USB port or the RS-232 port: both cables are supplied with the UPS, along with the user manual. The unit also signals three distinct alarms — switch to battery, low battery, and a continuous tone in the event of an overload.
Can a network management card be added?
Yes, the UPS has one free slot for a communication card. Without it, monitoring is done through the multifunction LCD console on the front panel, which shows the unit's status and is also used to configure it.
