What does DIN P-4 security level actually protect?

Here, P-4 means a cross-cut into 4 × 38 mm particles: the document is cut up in both directions, not just sliced into strips. It is the level chosen for sensitive documents you do not want pieced back together.

Do you have to stay by the machine to feed it paper?

Yes: the 99Ci is manually fed and has no auto-feed shredding that would take a stack while you are away. You insert the sheets through the slot, up to 18 per pass, and it starts and stops automatically and electronically: nothing to operate.

What happens if I insert too many sheets at once?

The 100% jam-proof technology takes over: it prevents jams and corrects misfeeds during shredding instead of blocking. So there is no jammed wad of paper to pull out, and you can get through large volumes without interruption.

Is it risky to leave this shredder within reach?

It features SafeSense® technology, which stops shredding as soon as a hand gets close to the entry slot. Safety therefore does not depend on a reflex: the machine cuts out by itself.

Can it shred anything other than paper?

Yes: it takes staples, paper clips, credit cards and CDs/DVDs. So you do not have to remove staples from your files before feeding them, or deal with your old optical media separately.

After how many sheets do you need to empty the bin?

The 34-litre bin holds 450 shredded sheets. It is a pull-out bin, and a bin-full indicator warns you before it overflows.

How long can it run without stopping, and for how many people?

It runs for up to 30 minutes continuously, at a shredding speed of 3.6 m/min. It is sized for 3 to 5 users with frequent use: it is the shredder for an office floor or a small department, not for a single workstation.

Is it bearable in a shared office?

Yes, that is exactly what it is designed for: SilentShred™ technology reduces noise in shared workspaces. An energy-saving system kicks in after a period without use, so it does not keep drawing power between shredding sessions.

How wide can documents be to fit through the slot?

The entry slot is 230 mm wide: an A4 sheet, which measures 210 mm, goes in easily. Allow 18 sheets per pass, staples included.

How much space and weight should you plan for when unpacking?

The 99Ci is 64 cm high, 29 cm wide and 44 cm deep and weighs 16.5 kg: it is a floor-standing machine, placed next to the desk, not a model you move around every day.

Is the shredder new and under warranty?
