Frequently asked questions about this product

What do the two speeds of the TP-Link RE315 mean?
It is dual-band: 300 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band and 867 Mbps on the 5 GHz band. The sum of the two gives the AC1200 name — no single device receives 1,200 Mbps on its own.
Does the RE315 range extender halve the Wi-Fi speed?
Its high-speed mode reserves one band for the link with the internet box and the other for devices. This avoids the classic range extender flaw of listening and retransmitting on the same frequency and losing half the bandwidth.
Does the TP-Link RE315 create a second network name?
Not if it is paired with a OneMesh router: the network then keeps a single name and moving from one area to another happens without dropouts. With a non-compatible internet box, it works as a standard range extender.
How do I know where to place the TP-Link RE315 range extender?
A signal strength light changes colour — white if the location is good, red if it is poor. The extender also automatically chooses the fastest path to the internet box.
Does the TP-Link RE315 have a network port?
Yes, a 10/100 Ethernet port. It lets you connect a wired device in the covered area, and the unit can also work as an access point from an existing Ethernet socket.
Does the TP-Link RE315 range extender work with any internet box?
Yes, it is stated to be compatible with any internet box or router. It pairs via the WPS button, has two external antennas and is managed through the Tether app or a browser.
Is the TP-Link RE315 range extender new and under warranty?
New, reference RE315, in original TP-Link packaging. The invoice serves as the warranty document for 1 year. Keep it: it is the document you will be asked for if you make a claim.
