Fitted above an LC1 ceiling loudspeaker, this red dome strengthens the protection of the cable termination when fire reaches the false ceiling, and is one of the assemblies that make the loudspeaker compliant with EN 54-24.

The grommet version of the LC1 dome

The LC1-MFDS keeps the form factor of the LC1-MFD but leaves out its ceramic terminal block and internal wiring: cables come in and go out through two grommets, which the installer can replace with PG13.5 glands. On top, an eye-bolt takes a steel safety cord, and the dome can be installed in an air-handling plenum.

Frequently asked questions about this product

Which loudspeakers is this dome compatible with?
With the ceiling loudspeakers of the Bosch LC1 range: LC1-WC06E8, LC1-WM06E8, LC1-UM06E8, LC1-UM12E8 and LC1-UM24E8. The dome sits above the loudspeaker, in the false ceiling, and is installed in a 190 mm cut-out marked with the template supplied.
How does it differ from the LC1-MFD dome?
The LC1-MFDS has the same form factor as the LC1-MFD, but without the ceramic terminal block or internal wiring: cables enter through two grommets, which can be replaced with PG13.5 glands. The LC1-MFD, for its part, includes a ceramic screw terminal block that allows loop-through cabling.
Does this dome allow an EN 54-24 compliant evacuation installation?
Yes. An LC1 loudspeaker only complies with EN 54-24 and BS 5839-8 when fitted with a designated accessory: the LC1-MFDS is one of them, like the LC1-MFD, the LC1-CSMB box or the LC1-CMR ring with its LC1-CBB back box. The dome itself is EN 54-24 certified.
Can it be installed in a plenum?
Yes: the dome is designed for air-handling spaces, the false-ceiling voids used for air handling. Its top eye-bolt also lets you attach an optional steel safety cord, for back-up fixing independent of the ceiling.
What are its dimensions and weight?
The dome measures 215 x 127 mm and weighs 0.635 kg. It is made of flame red painted steel (RAL 3000) and fits in a 190 mm cut-out; fitted with it, the LC1 loudspeaker reaches the IP21C protection rating.
