The Bosch LA1-UM40E-1 is a 40 W extruded aluminium column speaker designed for speech in challenging spaces: halls, platforms, places of worship or reverberant areas. Its narrow vertical directivity of 40° and wide horizontal directivity of 210° direct the sound towards the audience rather than the walls, preserving intelligibility. It delivers 111 dB at rated power from 250 Hz to 16 kHz, with 40, 20, 10 and 5 W taps on a 100 V line. Its IP65 rating and operating range of −25 to +55 °C allow installation in sheltered outdoor locations. 750 mm long and finished in RAL 9010 white, it comes with 2 m of cable.

Why choose a column rather than a conventional speaker?
For its directivity: only 40° vertically, but 210° horizontally. The sound goes towards the audience rather than the ceiling and floor, which limits reflections. That is what preserves speech intelligibility in a lobby, on a platform or in a place of worship.
