Can I connect my laptop with a single USB-C cable and charge it at the same time?
Yes. The USB-C port carries video in DisplayPort Alt Mode, data and up to 65 W of charging for your laptop, over a single cable — and that USB-C cable is supplied. The monitor's two 5 Gbps USB-A ports then act as a hub for the keyboard, the mouse or a USB flash drive.
Which cables are supplied in the box of the MSI PRO MP245PHG E14 monitor?
Three connection cables: an HDMI 1.4 cable, a USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 cable and a USB-B to USB-A cable used for KVM, plus the C13 power cable. The VESA plate and its four screws, the four stand screws and the quick guide complete the contents. You will need your own cable to use the DisplayPort input.
How does the KVM work, and what do I need to connect to control two computers?
It switches the keyboard and mouse from one machine to the other from the monitor. Two setups are provided: one computer connected via USB-C alone, and a second via HDMI or DisplayPort together with the USB-B cable. The USB-C, HDMI and USB-B cables are all supplied.
Can two sources be displayed side by side on this monitor?
No. PIP and PBP are not supported: the monitor displays only one source at a time. It is, however, designed for multi-monitor setups — its thin bezels on all four sides bring the screen-to-body ratio to 92%.
Do you really get 144 Hz on every input, including USB-C?
Yes. At 1920 × 1080, HDMI 2.0, DisplayPort 1.2a and USB-C all go up to 144 Hz. AMD FreeSync is active from 48 to 144 Hz and synchronises the display with the graphics card to eliminate screen tearing in games. The inputs are stated to be compatible with PC, Mac, PS5, PS4, Xbox, laptops and mobile devices.
Does the monitor have a webcam, and how good is its audio for video calls?
No built-in webcam: you will need your own. For sound, the monitor has two 2 W speakers and a headphone output — enough to follow a meeting or a video without adding speakers to the desk. Volume and the other settings are controlled with a 5-way joystick.
Can the stand adjust the height and turn the screen to portrait mode?
Yes, the stand adjusts on four axes: height over 130 mm, tilt from -5° to 20°, swivel from -45° to 45° and 90° rotation for portrait mode. Handy for reading code, a long document or a web page vertically. The four stand mounting screws are supplied in the box.
Can it be mounted on a wall or an arm, and is the mounting hardware supplied?
Yes, the monitor follows the VESA 100 × 100 mm standard, and the VESA plate with its four screws is included: nothing to buy for the monitor itself, only the arm or wall mount remains to be provided. Without its stand, the display measures 539.4 × 51.7 × 314.7 mm and the monitor weighs 5.55 kg: check your arm's load capacity before installing it.
Can you really mount a mini PC behind this MSI monitor?
Yes. The stand accepts an MSI Cubi series mini PC, which completely frees up the desk. With MSI Power Link and HDMI CEC, the monitor's power button also turns on the mini PC. A built-in accessory compartment also lets you store cables and adapters.
Is the panel matte or glossy, and does it cope with a window?
It is matte: an IPS panel with anti-glare treatment, so no mirror effect when facing a window. Brightness reaches 300 cd/m², contrast 1500:1, and the viewing angles are 178° horizontally and vertically: the image does not wash out when a colleague looks at it from the side.
Is this monitor suitable for photo and colour work?
For everyday editing, yes: coverage reaches 106% sRGB, 84% Adobe RGB and 82% DCI-P3. Note, however, that the 16.7 million colours are produced in simulated 8-bit (6-bit + FRC) — more than enough for office work and amateur photography, but falling short for professional colour-critical work.
How effective are the eye-strain protections over long days?
The monitor is TÜV certified for flicker-free operation and brings together anti-flicker, blue light reduction and anti-glare treatment under the EyesErgo name. The Eye-Q Check feature adds built-in eye tests and a break reminder after prolonged use.
Do you need to find room for an external power brick under the desk?
No: the power supply is built into the chassis, a simple power cord is all it takes, and it is supplied. The monitor accepts 100–240 V, 50/60 Hz, is Energy Star certified and CB/CE compliant; MSI's monitor range is also registered with the EPEAT environmental programme.
Is the monitor new and covered by a warranty?
Yes: the monitor is new and sealed in its original packaging, supplied with its invoice, which serves as the warranty document for 1 year. A Kensington security slot is provided at the back for shared workstations. Full details are given in the MSI datasheet (PDF).
