Does this Philips monitor have built-in speakers?
No, there are no built-in speakers: sound comes out through the monitor's headphone output, to which you connect headphones or active speakers.
Does the 0.5 ms MPRT mode have any drawbacks?
Yes, two. While MPRT is active, brightness can no longer be adjusted, and the backlight strobes in sync with the refresh rate, which can cause noticeable flicker. It is best kept for gaming sessions and switched off the rest of the time.
4 ms or 0.5 ms: which is the real response time?
Both are accurate, but they do not measure the same thing: the 4 ms GtG figure corresponds to the actual pixel transition (SmartResponse value), the 0.5 ms MPRT figure to motion blur once that mode is enabled. To compare fairly with another monitor, go by the 4 ms GtG.
How do I adjust the screen height or switch to portrait mode?
The stand provides tilt, from -5° to +20°, with the monitor measuring 562 × 419 × 180 mm on it. For height adjustment or portrait mode, mount it on an arm or a mount using the VESA 100 × 100 mm standard.
Is the 25E2G2200 panel matte?
Yes: 3H anti-glare coating, 25% haze. The W-LED-backlit IPS panel keeps colours stable up to a 178° viewing angle, horizontally and vertically, with 300 cd/m² and a 1500:1 contrast ratio boosted by SmartContrast.
Is its colour coverage suitable for photo and video work?
It is wide for a gaming monitor: 120% of sRGB, 92% of DCI-P3 and 91% of Adobe RGB, 16.7 million colours and HDR10 compatibility. These coverage figures are measured in CIE 1976 (sRGB area in CIE 1931), and a SmartImage HDR mode is provided for video.
Does it work with a Mac without installing a driver?
Yes: it is Plug & Play on macOS as well as on Windows 11 and 10, via DDC/CI, with an sRGB mode. The on-screen menu is available in French, and the buttons give direct access to brightness, input source and SmartImage profiles without going through the computer.
How much power does it draw, switched on and switched off?
14.4 W in typical operation, 0.5 W in standby and 0.3 W when switched off. One thing to plan for: the power supply is external (100-240 V), so there is a power brick to fit under the desk. The packaging, for its part, is 100% recyclable, and the whole unit is RoHS-compliant.
What weight does a monitor arm need to support for this Philips?

Is it comfortable for reading and working for hours?
It offers EasyRead mode, which adjusts colours and zoom for a paper-like rendering, complemented by LowBlue and a flicker-free panel (Flicker-free). Its pixel density is 90 pixels per inch.
Do you need a PC capable of 180 frames per second to benefit from it?
No. Adaptive-Sync matches the monitor's refresh rate to the graphics card's actual frame rate: tearing disappears even at 60 or 90 frames per second. The panel accepts a vertical signal from 48 to 180 Hz, through the HDMI 2.1 input as well as the DisplayPort 1.4.
What lifespan and operating conditions are specified?
The MTBF is 50,000 hours, excluding the backlight. The monitor operates from 0 to 40 °C, can be stored from -20 to 60 °C and withstands altitudes of up to 3,658 m in use. It carries CB, CE, EAC, UKCA and FCC approvals, with RoHS compliance and an allowable humidity of 20 to 80%.
