M-Audio Keystation 61 MK3 · Reference KEYSTATION61MK3
The Keystation 61 MK3 adds to the USB keyboard controller what smaller models lack: 61 semi-weighted keys for two-handed playing, and a 5-pin MIDI output that drives a synthesizer, with or without a computer.

The 61 full-size keys are semi-weighted and velocity-sensitive: your touch carries nuance, and you can play a left-hand accompaniment under a melody. The keyboard does not produce sound itself: it controls the software's virtual instrument, or a synthesizer connected to its MIDI output.
Full-size, semi-weighted, velocity-sensitive keys. The 5-pin MIDI output connects to the MIDI input of a synthesizer or sound module. Connected to a computer, the keyboard draws its power from the USB cable; alone with the synth, it runs on a 9 V DC 500 mA center-positive power supply, plugged into the DC IN socket. MIDI cable and power supply are sold separately.
DC IN, USB, MIDI, Sustain and Power, on the back.Pitch bend and modulation wheels, a volume fader assignable to a MIDI controller, Octave buttons that shift the keyboard up to four octaves and transpose by semitones: everything sits to the left of the keys. The transport buttons and arrows speak MIDI, Mackie Control or HUI depending on the software; the choice is made in Advanced mode, where the keyboard keys become settings.
Pitch bend, modulation, fader and transport, to the left of the keys.No driver on Windows or macOS: the Keystation is recognized as a USB MIDI device. With an iPad, the Apple Camera Connection Kit adapter is all you need. Registering the keyboard gives access to Ableton Live Lite, MPC Beats and six AIR instruments, including the Mini Grand and Velvet pianos.
From above: five octaves and the printed functions. No sound from the synth connected via MIDI? The keyboard must be powered: by the USB of a computer or powered hub, or by a 9 V power supply. Also check that the keyboard's MIDI channel is the one the synth is listening to.
