The Komplete Kontrol M32 brings together 32 compact velocity-sensitive keys, two touch strips, an OLED display and eight knobs pre-mapped to Komplete and NKS instruments, all in 475 mm wide and 1.45 kg.

Touch strips instead of wheels
To the left of the keyboard, two strips are controlled with a fingertip. The left one bends the pitch of the notes of the loaded instrument, the right one acts on its default modulation parameter. Both are automatically mapped to the matching controls of the instrument, with no prior setup.

The 4-directional encoder browses the Komplete Kontrol software library, sorted by category, and the Preset buttons move from one sound of the instrument to the next; the OLED display names the sound and the parameter touched. In supported music software, the left-hand section starts playback, recording with count-in, loop, metronome and tempo, with Undo, quantize, automation and two Solo and Mute buttons.
On the rear, the essentials
A slot for a Kensington lock, the FOOT PEDAL socket for a sustain pedal and the USB port, which connects the keyboard to the computer with the supplied cable and powers it. No power adapter is needed.

In MIDI mode, the mapping editor of the Komplete Kontrol software defines the messages sent by the knobs, the keyboard and the pedal, with several templates to recall depending on the app or device being controlled. For visually impaired musicians, the computer can announce aloud the buttons, the navigation and the name of each parameter touched, notably with VoiceOver in Logic Pro X and GarageBand.

The serial number printed on the information sheet in the box is used to register the keyboard: keep it, it unlocks the download of the Komplete Kontrol software.

Which software comes with the Komplete Kontrol M32?
The Komplete Kontrol software, a selection of Komplete instruments and Ableton Live Lite, downloaded after registering the keyboard with the serial number printed on the supplied information sheet. The exact content of the selection depends on Native Instruments' offer at the time of registration.
Does the Komplete Kontrol M32 work with other software?
Yes. Besides Komplete instruments and hundreds of plug-ins in NKS format, it closely controls Ableton Live, Logic Pro X, Cubase, Nuendo, Studio One, Pro Tools and GarageBand, supports the Mackie Control protocol, and elsewhere behaves like an ordinary USB MIDI controller, recognised by any MIDI-compatible software.
What are the eight touch-sensitive knobs for?
They are pre-mapped to the most useful settings of each loaded Komplete or NKS instrument, and change assignment with the chosen mode. Just touch a knob to see on the OLED display the parameter it controls, even before turning it.
What is Smart Play?
A set of playing aids built into the keyboard: over 100 scales and modes to stay in key, chords and arpeggios triggered from a single key, and a mode that maps any scale onto the white keys only.
Does the Komplete Kontrol M32 need a power supply?
No. It is powered by the computer's USB port, which also carries the MIDI: no power adapter is needed. Native Instruments recommends connecting it directly to the computer for a stable connection.
What system does the Komplete Kontrol software require?
macOS 13 to 15 or 64-bit Windows 10 or 11, an Intel Core i5 processor or equivalent or an Apple Silicon chip, 4 GB of RAM, 6 GB recommended, and an internet connection for activation. The instruments open standalone or as VST, VST3, AU or AAX plug-ins.
Are the M32 keys full piano size?
No. The M32 has 32 compact keys, smaller than those of a piano, to fit on a desk next to the computer or in a bag. They are velocity-sensitive, and two touch strips replace the wheels for pitch bend and modulation.
Can you connect a sustain pedal?
Yes. The FOOT PEDAL input, on the rear, takes a pedal with a TRS jack plug that is assigned to sustain in the software settings; half-damper pedals are supported. The pedal is not included.
