Only one part number to remember: the HP 106A, code W1106A, rated for 1,000 pages. The 137fnw prints in black and white only, so it has neither colour cartridges nor a separate drum to keep an eye on. It is the easiest machine to supply in HP's whole compact laser range.

The 137fnw is a monochrome 4-in-1: printing, copying, scanning and fax, with an automatic document feeder and 20 pages per minute. That feeder is what weighs most on the toner — copying a stack of twenty sheets becomes a one-second job, and every copy uses as much as a print. Incoming faxes print on their own, without anyone asking.
At 1,000 pages per toner, an office that copies and receives faxes reaches its first replacement sooner than it thinks. It is the only machine in the series where keeping one spare is genuinely worth it: there is only one part number, it costs the price of a single toner, and its absence stops everything.
On this machine the drum is built into the cartridge: changing the 106A also changes the part that transfers the powder onto the paper. That costs more per page than a separate drum, but it removes one part to watch — and one possible failure. The Color Laser 179fnw and 178nw, by contrast, have a 120A drum sold separately.
It serves the monochrome HP Laser machines of the same generation — the 107, 135 and 137. Check the exact name on the front before ordering: the Color Laser models in the same family take the 117A, which does not fit here.
