Frequently asked questions about this product

Which printers does the HP 963 cyan cartridge work with?
It is stated to be compatible with the HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 and OfficeJet Pro 9020 all-in-one ranges. Check the model printed on your printer, or the code on the cartridge you are removing: here 3JA23AE. Genuine HP cartridges are designed specifically to work with your HP printer.
What is the difference between the HP 963 and the 963XL, and which should I choose?
The yield: 700 pages for the 963 cyan, 1,600 pages for the 963XL cyan (3JA27AE), in a cartridge of identical dimensions (114 × 25 × 126 mm). If you print a lot in colour, the XL means far fewer replacements. Black follows the same logic: 1,000 pages for the 963, 2,000 pages for the 963XL.
How are the stated 700 pages measured?
According to the ISO/IEC 24711 standard or an HP test methodology, in continuous printing on an HP OfficeJet Pro 9020: it is an average composite yield for cyan/magenta/yellow, for 10.74 ml of ink. Actual yield varies considerably depending on the content of the printed pages.
Is the cartridge sold on its own or with the other colours?
On its own. Reference 3JA23AE is the cyan cartridge; magenta (3JA24AE) and yellow (3JA25AE) are ordered separately, as is black (3JA26AE), which lasts 1,000 pages. The three colours share the same 114 × 25 × 126 mm format, the black being wider (119 × 36 × 126 mm).
Does pigment ink last over time on archived documents?
Yes, that is its whole point: the pigment inks of the HP 963 deliver long-lasting, fade-resistant results, backed by HP internal testing and the Wilhelm Imaging Research statement on dark storage. Ideal for producing business documents that keep vivid colours and crisp black text.
What should you do with the cartridge once it is empty?
HP takes it back free of charge for recycling through its HP Planet Partners programme, whose availability varies by country. So you do not have to throw it away with ordinary waste. Genuine HP supplies are also designed to save resources and paper when printing.
Is this HP 963 cyan cartridge genuine and under warranty?
Yes: a genuine HP cartridge (3JA23AE), new, supplied with its invoice, which serves as the 1-year warranty document — HP warrants its cartridges against any defects in materials and workmanship. Full details in the HP datasheet (PDF).
