Do you need to buy a paper roll and a cable to set it up?

No, it prints straight out of the box. The box contains the main unit, a paper roll, a USB cable, the power cable, the setup guide, the user guide and the warranty document.

Is there ink or a ribbon to buy for the TM-T20X?

No. It is a thermal printer: no ink, no ribbon, no toner. The only consumable is paper, for a print width of 80 mm.

How does it use less paper than other receipt printers?

Thanks to automatic paper reduction: it reduces the top and bottom margins, the line feed width and the barcode height, and controls the amount of paper used. It prints the logo of the next receipt before cutting, which takes a further 12 mm off the top margin.

Can you connect a cash drawer to it?

Yes: in addition to its communication interfaces, it has a drawer kick-out port. The cash drawer is therefore triggered from the printer.

How long does the print mechanism last under intensive use?

The mechanism is rated for 15 million lines, with a mean time between failures (MTBF) of 360,000 hours. These figures make it suitable for high-volume environments: retail stores, grocery shops and hospitality venues.

Is it noisy when you print in front of customers?

It is measured at 55 dB(A) in operation. As it prints at 200 mm/s, each receipt comes out in moments, even when the queue gets longer.

How much counter space does it take up, and can it cope with a non-air-conditioned room?

It measures 140 × 199 × 146 mm and weighs 1.7 kg: it fits on a corner of a counter. It operates from 5 to 45 °C and from 10 to 90% humidity, which covers a non-air-conditioned retail space.
