Frequently asked questions about this product
Does XMP need to be enabled to reach 3,200 MHz?
Yes: until the profile is loaded, the module runs at 2,666 MHz at 19-19-19-43. Enabling the XMP 2.0 profile in the BIOS takes it to 3,200 MHz at 16-20-20-40, at 1.35 V.
Will this DDR4 module fit into a DDR5 slot?
No: a DDR4 slot is required. The form factor is still the standard 288-pin DIMM used in desktop PCs, but the connector on a DDR5 motherboard will not accept it.
Does this Viper Steel memory module have ECC?
No: it is a NON-ECC, unbuffered module, like desktop PC memory in general. ECC is reserved for server and NAS memory modules.
Is this product a kit of two modules?
No: it is a single 8 GB module, which takes up only one slot. It is intended as an add-on for a desktop tower that is already built.
Which platforms is this Viper Steel 8 GB validated on?
It is hand-tested and validated on high-end Intel platforms and recent i7 processors, and is specified for both Intel and AMD configurations.
What does the heatsink on this Patriot memory module look like?
A steel-grey aluminium heatsink with a black top, and the Viper logo diamond-cut into the sides. Understated, it blends into the motherboard rather than drawing the eye.
Is this Patriot Viper Steel 8 GB memory module new and under warranty?
Yes, it is a new Patriot Memory product, part number PVS48G320C6, barcode 0814914025505, weighing 48 g. The invoice serves as the warranty document for 1 year. Datasheet: Patriot Viper Steel DDR4 8 GB.
