Frequently asked questions about this product

How do you reach 100 Hz on the HP Series 5 Pro 524pf?
Through a DisplayPort 1.2 or higher connection between the computer and the monitor: that is the stated requirement for 100 Hz, and the DisplayPort cable is included. The HDMI 1.4 port is also there for other machines. The rate is then selected in the system's display settings.
My laptop only has a USB-C output: can I connect the HP 524pf?
The monitor receives the picture through its HDMI 1.4 port or its DisplayPort 1.2 port; its four USB-A ports are for accessories. From a laptop whose only video output is USB-C, you will therefore need a USB-C to DisplayPort or USB-C to HDMI adapter, chosen according to what your machine's video output supports.
Can the HP Series 5 Pro 524pf display 4K?
No: its maximum resolution is Full HD 1920 x 1080, at 100 Hz. On a 23.8-inch screen, that works out at 93 pixels per inch — text stays sharp at normal desk distance without having to enlarge the system display, which is the usual sweet spot for this screen size.
What are the HP 524pf's four USB ports for?
For connecting a keyboard, mouse, USB flash drive or headset directly to the monitor, at 5 Gbps, with one of the four also able to charge a device. Connect the monitor to the computer with the supplied USB Type-B to Type-A cable: it is this upstream link that activates these ports. They are located on the back of the monitor.
Which cables come with the HP Series 5 Pro 524pf?
Three connection cables — DisplayPort, HDMI and USB Type-B to Type-A — plus the AC power cord. All other cables must be purchased separately. Whichever of these two video outputs your computer has, the monitor can therefore be used straight away.
Does the HP 524pf work with a Chromebook or a Mac?
It carries the “Works With Chromebook” badge, which certifies compatibility verified to Google's standards for Chrome OS devices. The HP Display Center settings app, for its part, requires Windows 10 or later and is also available in a macOS version.
Does the 524pf's stand adjust for height and portrait mode?
Yes, in four directions: 150 mm of height adjustment, tilt from -5° to +23°, ±45° swivel and ±90° pivot to switch to portrait. At 4.9 kg with the stand — 3.4 kg for the display alone — the monitor is easy to reposition throughout the day.
Does the HP Series 5 Pro 524pf have a built-in webcam?
No, there is no built-in webcam: it is a display-only monitor. For video conferencing, an external webcam can be plugged into one of the monitor's four USB-A ports, provided the monitor is connected to the computer with the supplied USB Type-B to Type-A cable.
Are the 524pf's colours accurate enough for graphic work?
The monitor covers 100% of the sRGB colour space, on an 8-bit (6-bit + FRC) IPS panel displaying up to 16.7 million colours, with 350 nits of brightness and a 1500:1 static contrast ratio. HP's progressive white balancing also aligns the white point between two Series 5 Pro monitors placed side by side.
Is this monitor comfortable in a very brightly lit office?
Its 3H-hardness anti-glare surface, its 350-nit brightness and the HP Eye Ease hardware filter — TÜV certified and always on, without any yellow colour shift — limit reflections and eye strain. The monitor is also flicker-free, and its IPS panel stays accurate at 178° on both axes.
How much power does the HP 524pf consume, and how much space does it take up?
0.5 W in standby, with energy efficiency class C, ENERGY STAR certification and an EPEAT Gold label with Climate+. On the desk, it takes up 53.94 cm of width and 18.95 cm of depth with the stand, with a maximum height of 50.32 cm and a weight of 4.9 kg.
Is the HP Series 5 Pro 524pf monitor new and under warranty?
