Frequently asked questions about this product

Does the MSI MAG 245F X24 sustain 240 Hz on all its inputs?
Yes: the two HDMI 2.0b ports and the DisplayPort 1.2a accept Full HD at up to 240 Hz. The vertical signal range is 48 to 240 Hz. An HDMI 2.0 cable is supplied with the monitor, so you can immediately connect a machine that has an HDMI output.
My laptop only has a USB-C output: can I connect the MAG 245F X24?
The monitor receives the picture through its two HDMI 2.0b ports or its DisplayPort 1.2a. From a laptop whose only video output is USB-C, you will therefore need a USB-C to HDMI or USB-C to DisplayPort adapter, and should check that this USB-C output supports video on your machine.
Does AMD FreeSync Premium work with any graphics card?
No: FreeSync technology requires a FreeSync-compatible AMD Radeon graphics card, in addition to the monitor. The adaptive sync range here covers 48 to 240 Hz. Check this with your machine's manufacturer before relying on it.
Does the MAG 245F X24 have speakers?
No, there are no built-in speakers. There is, however, a headphone output on the monitor, which lets you get the sound from consoles or from a PC connected over HDMI without going through the tower or another device.
Can you connect a PlayStation or a Switch to this MSI monitor?
Yes, both HDMI ports are suited to it, and MSI Console Mode relies on the HDMI CEC standard: the PlayStation or Switch controller can wake the monitor, with settings tailored to each device. This mode also provides variable refresh rate support.
Is the MAG 245F X24's stand height-adjustable?
No: only the tilt can be adjusted, from -5° to +20°, with no height, swivel or pivot adjustment. VESA 100 x 100 mm mounting is provided for a monitor arm, which remains the way to adjust the position; the monitor weighs only 3.25 kg.
Does the MSI MAG 245F X24 monitor have USB ports?
No: its connectivity is limited to the two HDMI ports, the DisplayPort, the headphone output and the Kensington lock slot. KVM and PIP/PBP functions are not supported either: it is a pure gaming monitor, designed for one machine at a time.
What does a Rapid IPS panel bring compared with a standard IPS panel?
It is all about response time: 0.5 ms grey-to-grey, as a minimum value, compared with several milliseconds on an ordinary IPS panel, which reduces the trail behind fast-moving objects. The viewing angles remain those of IPS, 178° horizontally as well as vertically, with a 1000:1 contrast ratio.
Are the MAG 245F X24's colours suitable for anything other than gaming?
Its panel covers 112% of the sRGB colour space, 87% of DCI-P3 and 85% of Adobe RGB, with 1.07 billion colours in 10-bit (8-bit plus FRC) and 300 cd/m² in SDR. Enough to edit photos intended for the web, bearing in mind that the panel is not factory-calibrated.
What is MSI's AI Vision mode for?
To bring out detail in the dark areas of a game: it brightens those areas, raises overall brightness and boosts colour saturation. The crosshair also changes colour automatically to stay visible when it blends into the background, a real problem on light backgrounds.
Do you need an external power brick for this MSI monitor?
No: the power supply is an internal board, fed at 100-240 V through a simple C13 power cord, which is included. Nothing to tuck away under the desk, and just one power cable to route through the cable grommet.
How much space does the MAG 245F X24 take up on the desk?
538.9 mm wide, 220 mm deep with the stand and 411.6 mm high, for 3.25 kg. Without its stand, the panel is only 56.9 mm thick, which leaves you the option of a monitor arm to free up the desktop completely.
Is the MSI MAG 245F X24 monitor new and under warranty?
Yes: new, in its original packaging, with a one-year warranty; your invoice serves as the warranty document. The manufacturer's technical document is attached to this page.
