Frequently asked questions about this product

Does the iPhone 17e have a SIM card tray?
No: it works with eSIM only, with no physical tray. The line is activated remotely with the carrier. That is the first thing to check: make sure yours offers this option before ordering.
Do you need to buy a charger with the iPhone 17e?
Yes, if you do not have one: the 20 W USB-C power adapter is sold separately. Fast charging is supported via MagSafe as well as USB-C, but it requires an adapter able to deliver the necessary power.
What battery life is quoted for the iPhone 17e?
Up to 45 hours of video playback — the figure does measure continuous video playback, not a day of mixed use. That is a high figure for a compact 6.1-inch, 170 g format.
Is a single camera enough on the iPhone 17e?
Its sensor is a 48 MP 2-in-1 Fusion camera: its resolution allows a lossless 2x digital telephoto, obtained by cropping the centre of the sensor. You therefore get two useful focal lengths without a second module.
Is the iPhone 17e display scratch-resistant?
Its front is made of Ceramic Shield 2, rated for three times better scratch resistance than the previous generation. The chassis is aluminium — on this point, the model makes no savings.
What is inside the A19 chip of the iPhone 17e?
A 6-core CPU, a 5-core GPU and a 16-core Neural Engine — the same number of neural cores as the Pro versions, which matters for the artificial intelligence features run on the device.
Is the iPhone 17e's USB-C port fast?
It runs at USB 2: the speed is fine for charging and everyday syncing, but copying several tens of gigabytes of video takes patience. The Pro models in the range, for their part, go up to Thunderbolt 3.
Does the iPhone 17e film in Dolby Vision?
Yes, in 4K Dolby Vision: dynamic range and colour are recorded frame by frame, which gives a far more nuanced picture than standard video on a compatible display.
Is the iPhone 17e easy to handle?
Yes: 14.68 × 7.16 × 0.78 cm and 170 g, with a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED panel. It is one of the most compact formats in the range, usable one-handed without shifting your grip.
How do you unlock the iPhone 17e?
With Face ID, the facial recognition provided by the 12 MP TrueDepth module on the front, which is also used for selfies and video calls. Sound comes from stereo speakers with spatial audio.
