Yes: its reproduction ratio reaches 1x, meaning life-size shooting. The subject is projected onto the sensor at its actual size — that is the definition of a macro lens.
What is the minimum focusing distance of this lens?
0.29 m. Combined with the 1x ratio, this distance lets you fill the frame with a very small subject while leaving room to light it.
Is this lens suitable for video?
Yes: focus breathing is virtually eliminated, which keeps the framing stable when the focus shifts. That is precisely what gives away a stills lens used for video.
What is the focus limiter on this lens for?
To restrict the range the autofocus searches, with two positions. In macro work, this stops the lens from sweeping its entire travel when the subject is close: focusing is noticeably faster.
What is in the box with this Nikon lens?
The lens, the HB-99 lens hood, the CL-C2 case and the caps. The included lens hood matters: on many lenses, it is sold separately.
Is this lens resistant to rain and dust?
