The Thrash212 is a no-nonsense active PA speaker: a 12-inch woofer, a titanium-diaphragm compression driver, 1,300 W peak in class D, two inputs and a volume knob. It works front of house for a voice, a band or an event, then lies down on the floor to become a stage monitor.

Two amps, one per driver
The 12-inch ferrite-magnet woofer gets 1,000 W peak; the 1-inch titanium-diaphragm compression driver gets 300 W peak from its own amplifier. The filter that splits the frequencies between the two crosses over at 2.4 kHz, with a 24 dB per octave slope. Mackie publishes the peak power only: no RMS value is given for this model. The sound covers 90° horizontally and 60° vertically.
A mic, a mixer or both
Both combo sockets accept a microphone on XLR or a line source on a 6.35 mm jack. Each channel's gain knob has two marks: Line for a mixer or a keyboard, Mic when a microphone is plugged in directly. The XLR Mix Out sends the blend of both inputs to a second Thrash or to a powered subwoofer.
Standing for front of house, lying down as a monitor
Standing upright, on the floor or on a stand, it projects towards the audience. Laid on its angled side, it tilts at 45° towards the singer or musician: same cabinet, no accessory to add. The grille badge rotates to stay upright in both positions.

A peak and RMS limiter prevents the amplifiers from clipping; the rear LED turns from green to red when it acts, a sign to lower the gain. The high-frequency driver has its own compressor against transients, a subsonic filter keeps the woofer from bottoming out on infrasound, and thermal protection mutes the sound if the amplifier overheats, then restores it once cooled down.
Four handles and a stand socket
Two handles on the sides, two more at the top and bottom of the rear panel: you load it into a car without looking for a place to grab it. Under the cabinet, the socket takes a speaker stand. The Thrash212 has no rigging points, however: Mackie forbids flying it, even by its handles.

What is the RMS power of the Thrash212?
Mackie does not publish it: the only official figure is 1,300 W peak, of which 1,000 W for the low-frequency amplifier and 300 W for the high-frequency one. To compare two speakers, look instead at the maximum level of 125 dB SPL peak and the response from 52 Hz to 20 kHz at −10 dB.
Can you plug a microphone straight into the speaker?
Yes. Both combo inputs accept a microphone on XLR or a line source on a 6.35 mm jack, and each channel's gain knob has a Line mark and a Mic mark. For a mixer, set the gain to Line; for a microphone, turn it up gradually while watching the LED, which turns red when the limiter is working.
How do you connect two Thrash speakers?
By cable: the XLR Mix Out sends the blend of both inputs to the input of a second Thrash, then a third, in a chain. The same output can also feed a powered subwoofer. Then set the gain of the following speakers to the Line position.
Can the Thrash212 be used as a floor monitor?
Yes. Laid on the floor on its angled side, it tilts at 45° towards the musician: this is the monitor use planned by Mackie. Standing upright, it serves front of house, placed on the floor or mounted on a stand via the built-in socket under the speaker.
Can this speaker be flown?
No. The Thrash212 has no rigging points, and Mackie forbids flying it, including by its handles. It stands on the floor or goes on a stand able to carry its 16.5 kg.
What protection does it include?

The woofer: 12 inches on the Thrash212, 15 inches on the Thrash215. The response goes down to 52 Hz versus 38 Hz at −10 dB, for 125 dB versus 126 dB SPL peak and 16.5 kg versus 18.5 kg. The 1,300 W peak amplification, the inputs, the Mix Out and the floor monitor use are identical.
What is in the Thrash212 box?
The speaker and its detachable mains cord, which plugs into the IEC inlet on the rear (220 to 240 V). The T100 tripod and the SPM200 pole mount are Mackie accessories offered separately.
