An electronic drum kit has no voice without a speaker. The Strike Amp 12 MK2 is a bi-amped active speaker tuned for drum sounds: a 12-inch woofer for the impact of the kick drum, a 1-inch compression driver for the crack of the snare and the detail of the cymbals.

From the kick drum to the cymbals

The 12-inch woofer, built on a 2.5-inch high-temperature voice coil, handles the low end; above 2 kHz, the crossover hands over to the 1-inch compression driver, loaded by a horn covering 90° horizontally and 60° vertically. The response holds from 53 Hz to 20 kHz at ±3 dB and reaches down to 44 Hz at −10 dB. With 2,500 W peak and 132 dB SPL peak at 1 m, there is headroom for a band rehearsal as well as for a gig without a PA system.

Lying down, upright or on a stand

Lying on its angled side, it works as a stage monitor aimed at the drummer. Upright or on a stand, it directs the sound where it is needed: the 36 mm socket under the cabinet mounts it on a speaker stand, handy outdoors or in a room without a PA system. At 15.7 kg, with moulded handles and 351 × 607 × 354 mm, it moves without help; the stand, however, must be rated for this weight.

Two instruments, and music over Bluetooth

Two XLR and 6.35 mm jack combo inputs accept balanced connections, each with its own volume: the drum module on one, a multipad on the other. A third source comes in over Bluetooth 5.0, with its dedicated volume knob, to play along with a song or play music during breaks. The XLR Mix Out sends the mix to a second speaker or to the front-of-house mixer.

Less boom, less hum

On a large stage or in a room that resonates, the HPF button cuts the low end below 100 Hz: the sound becomes clear again, as if the speaker were mounted on a stand. The Ground button lifts the ground when a hum reveals a ground loop between devices. On the back, the Sig/Limit LED turns from green to red when the limiter kicks in, and the electronics protect the drivers against clipping, overheating and overload.

The XLR or jack cables that connect the drum module to the speaker are not included. For stereo listening, plan two Strike Amp 12 MK2, one for each left and right output of the module.
