A small PA system
that runs on eight batteries.
The CUBE Street EX is a 50 W stereo amp powered by eight AA batteries or by mains power, with two 20 cm woofers, two tweeters and four channels: enough to carry two voices, a guitar, a keyboard and backing music in the street, outdoors or on a small stage.

Choose between power and battery life
A selector sets the power on three levels, and the battery life follows. With eight 2,450 mAh Ni-MH batteries, Roland states about:

Alkaline batteries give about 16, 8 and 4 hours. The batteries slide into a compartment on the rear and are bought separately; the AC adapter is included. The Battery Check button shows the remaining charge on three indicators.

The MIC/INSTRUMENT and MIC/GUITAR channels each carry an XLR and 6.35 mm jack combo socket, a three-band EQ and a reverb: two singers can perform together. The LINE IN channel takes a keyboard or a drum machine in stereo on two jacks, and the AUDIO IN channel, on a mini jack, the music from a phone. An AUX IN jack on the rear adds a mono source when everything else is in use.

On the guitar channel, a selector offers three COSM amp models, CLEAN, CRUNCH and LEAD, an acoustic guitar simulator and a preamp dedicated to electro-acoustic guitar. Chorus or delay, reverb and a built-in tuner complete the section, and two jacks accept BOSS FS-5U, FS-6 or FS-7 footswitches, sold separately, to control the effects by foot.
Play along with a backing track, then record yourself
The i-CUBE LINK connection uses the supplied four-pole mini jack cable: it plays music from an iPhone or iPad and sends the amp's sound back to the free CUBE JAM app, which records the performance, changes the pitch or speed of a track and can reduce the centre-panned vocal. Depending on the device, an Apple adapter may be needed.
From street amp to stereo PA
Two CUBE Street EX linked through their Stereo Link jacks form a stereo PA with eight inputs. The line outputs also send the mix to a larger PA system, the amp then serving as a monitor thanks to its angled back, and a socket under the cabinet takes the optional Roland ST-A95 speaker stand.

Even when plugged into mains power, leave the batteries in place: if the cord comes loose mid-concert, the amp keeps playing on batteries.
