Fifteen inches for the lows,

The Thrash215 is the larger of the two Thrash speakers: the same electronics as the Thrash212, but a 15-inch woofer that goes down to 38 Hz. Two inputs, one volume knob, a daisy-chain output, and a cabinet that switches from front of house to stage monitor by laying it down.

What three extra inches bring
With the same amplification, the Thrash215's 15-inch woofer extends the bottom of the spectrum: the response starts at 38 Hz at −10 dB, versus 52 Hz for the Thrash212, and 55 Hz at −3 dB. A bass guitar, a kick drum or a DJ set gain deeper lows. In return, the cabinet is 711 mm tall and weighs 18.5 kg.
Two amps, one per driver
The ferrite-magnet woofer is driven by 1,000 W peak; the 1-inch titanium-diaphragm compression driver by 300 W peak. The filter crosses over at 2.4 kHz, at 24 dB per octave, and the sound spreads over 90° horizontally and 60° vertically. Mackie states the peak power only; no RMS value is published.
As a monitor, lying on its angled side
Resting on its bevelled side, the speaker faces the musician at a 45° angle and works as a stage monitor, with no part to add. In this role it receives an output from the mixer or the Mix Out of another Thrash, with its gain set to the Line mark.

The built-in socket under the cabinet takes a standard speaker stand, to project the sound over the first rows. Check that the stand can carry the speaker's 18.5 kg. The Thrash215 has no rigging points: Mackie forbids flying it, even by its handles.
Two inputs, one output to daisy-chain
Each combo socket accepts a microphone on XLR or a line source on a 6.35 mm jack, with a gain marked Line and Mic. The XLR Mix Out passes the blend of both channels to a second Thrash or to a powered subwoofer. A peak and RMS limiter, a compressor on the high-frequency driver, a subsonic filter and thermal protection look after the drivers; the rear LED turns red when the limiter is working.
Front, side with the angled face, and back.The speaker connects with a standard IEC cord, at 220 to 240 V: the outlet must supply the voltage specified for the model. On a weak line, the speaker works but does not reach its full power.

What is the RMS power of the Thrash215?
Mackie does not publish it: the only official figure is 1,300 W peak, of which 1,000 W for the low-frequency amplifier and 300 W for the high-frequency one. To compare two speakers, look instead at the maximum level of 126 dB SPL peak and the response from 38 Hz to 20 kHz at −10 dB.
Can you plug a microphone straight into the speaker?
Yes. Both combo inputs accept a microphone on XLR or a line source on a 6.35 mm jack, and each channel's gain knob has a Line mark and a Mic mark. For a mixer, set the gain to Line; for a microphone, turn it up gradually while watching the LED, which turns red when the limiter is working.
How do you connect two Thrash speakers?
By cable: the XLR Mix Out sends the blend of both inputs to the input of a second Thrash, then a third, in a chain. The same output can also feed a powered subwoofer. Then set the gain of the following speakers to the Line position.
Can the Thrash215 be used as a floor monitor?
Yes. Laid on the floor on its angled side, it tilts at 45° towards the musician: this is the monitor use planned by Mackie. Standing upright, it serves front of house, placed on the floor or mounted on a stand via the built-in socket under the speaker.
Can this speaker be flown?
No. The Thrash215 has no rigging points, and Mackie forbids flying it, including by its handles. It stands on the floor or goes on a stand able to carry its 18.5 kg.
What protection does it include?
A peak and RMS limiter prevents the amplifiers from clipping, a dedicated compressor protects the high-frequency driver, a subsonic filter stops the woofer from bottoming out, and thermal protection mutes the sound if the amplifier gets too hot, then restores it once cooled down. When the rear LED turns red, lower the gain.
What is the difference between the Thrash215 and the Thrash212?
The woofer: 15 inches on the Thrash215, 12 inches on the Thrash212. The response goes down to 38 Hz versus 52 Hz at −10 dB, for 126 dB versus 125 dB SPL peak and 18.5 kg versus 16.5 kg. The 1,300 W peak amplification, the inputs, the Mix Out and the floor monitor use are identical.
What is in the Thrash215 box?
The speaker and its detachable mains cord, which plugs into the IEC inlet on the rear (220 to 240 V). The T100 tripod and the SPM200 pole mount are Mackie accessories offered separately.
