Frequently asked questions about this product

Does the BVX1200LI-GR's AVR also correct overvoltages?
This model's automatic voltage regulation works by boosting: it raises low voltages without discharging the battery, which preserves its service life. The accepted input range is 140 to 230 V — a UPS designed for grids that sag.
How long does the BVX1200LI-GR last on battery?
7 minutes at 50% load, i.e. 325 W, and 4 minutes at 70%, i.e. 455 W. A full recharge then takes 8 hours: after a long power cut, allow a night before regaining the full reserve.
Why do 1200 VA only give 650 W?
The power factor is 0.54: 1200 × 0.54 ≈ 650 W actually available. The gap is significant, and it is indeed the wattage that you need to compare with the combined consumption of the tower unit, the monitor and the broadband router.
What waveform does the UPS deliver on battery?
A stepped approximation to a sine wave, in other words a signal built up in steps rather than a true sine wave. Switchover takes 6 milliseconds typical and 10 at most.
Can internet access be maintained during a power cut?
Yes, that is in fact the use highlighted: the sockets allow the network gateway equipment and other low-power devices to keep running for several hours, to maintain internet access during a power cut.
How many sockets does the UPS have, and what is its cord?
Four Schuko sockets on the output side, and a 1.20 m Schuko input cord. So make sure there is a wall socket close to where the unit will stand: this cord is shorter than the average for the category.
Can the UPS start with no power present?
Yes, cold start is possible: it provides temporary battery power even during a mains failure. An audible alarm also signals changes in the unit's status.
How much space does the UPS take up, and is it noisy?
140 × 390 × 190 mm and 8.5 kg, in a tower format. It is rated at 40 dBA: audible in a quiet room, so best placed on the floor or away from the workstation rather than next to the monitor.
Is the APC Easy UPS BVX1200LI-GR new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document, for a period of 2 years. The unit is approved by a safety agency: it has been tested and declared fit to operate safely with the connected loads. The datasheet covers the rest.
