What battery life is quoted for the Evolve2 85?
Up to 37 h of music and 30 h of talk time: two separate figures, the second being the one that matters for professional use. A full recharge takes 2 h 30 min, and 15 minutes gives back 8 hours.
How many microphones does the Evolve2 85 have?
Ten: 4 analogue MEMS and 6 digital. Four of them are dedicated to digital hybrid active noise cancellation, the rest to picking up your voice on calls.
Do the ear cups go around the ear on this model?
Yes, the Evolve2 85 is over-ear: the memory foam cushions surround the ear instead of pressing on it. It is this design, combined with ANC, that lets you truly shut out an open-plan office.
Can the Evolve2 85 be used wired if the battery is flat?
Yes, it has a 3.5 mm jack input for wired listening, and the 1.2 m audio cable is included in the box. It is a fallback you will not find on every professional wireless headset.
How do you mute the mic on this headset?
By flipping up the mic boom, which is retractable: it tucks away along the ear cup and the mic mutes as it goes. People around you can see the gesture, which is better than a discreet button.
How does the headset connect to the computer?
Through the supplied Jabra Link 380 Bluetooth adapter, available in USB-A or USB-C depending on the part number, and over direct Bluetooth on the smartphone side. Two devices stay connected at the same time, within a 30 m range.
Which audio codecs does the Evolve2 85 support?
SBC and AAC. AAC is the codec used by Apple devices and most music services: its presence is why this headset holds its own for music listening, where professional models are often limited to SBC.
Is the Evolve2 85 also suitable for music?
Its 40 mm speakers cover 20 Hz to 20 kHz in music mode, compared with 100 Hz to 8 kHz in voice mode: the frequency range opens up markedly as soon as the headset leaves the call.
Can the busylight be seen from behind?
Yes, the Evolve2 85 busylight is visible from every angle. It shows that you are on a call without you having to look up or answer your colleagues.
What does this model's Microsoft Teams certification bring?
This is the MS version of the Evolve2 85, certified for Microsoft Teams: the buttons and lights follow the app's behaviour, notifications included. The headset can still be used on other meeting platforms.
