Will this Sony lens fit my camera body?
It has an E mount, the mount used by Sony mirrorless cameras, and covers 24 × 36 full frame. On an APS-C body with an E mount, it works, but the framing gets tighter.
What does the f/1.8 aperture of this 85 mm lens make possible?
A heavily blurred background behind the subject, and shooting in low light. A wide-aperture 85 mm is the classic portrait combination.
Is this lens weather-resistant?
Yes: it has a weather-resistant design. You can therefore take it outdoors without worrying about a passing shower.
Is this lens stabilised?
No: it has no optical stabilisation. On a Sony body with sensor stabilisation, the camera compensates; otherwise, you will need to keep an eye on your shutter speed.
How does this lens render colours?
It features a low-dispersion element, which Sony credits with vivid colours. This type of glass reduces colour fringing on high-contrast edges.
Is this lens's autofocus quiet?
Yes: it is billed as smooth and quiet. That is what makes it usable for video without the microphone picking up the motor.
Is this Sony FE 85mm f/1.8 lens new and under warranty?
Yes, it is a new Sony product, an E-mount prime lens designed for portraits. The invoice serves as the warranty document, for a period of 1 year. Keep it: it is the document requested if a defect is found.
