Do you need a ribbon to print with the Honeywell PD4500C?

Your choice: in direct thermal, no ribbon is needed but the label fades over time; in thermal transfer, a ribbon lays down the ink and the marking becomes durable. The machine supports both modes.

Are labels accurately positioned on the Honeywell PD4500C?

It has a dual sensor and a vertical accuracy of 0.75 mm. On a label a few centimetres in size, this maximum offset decides whether a barcode stays whole or runs over — and therefore whether it scans or not.
