What transfer rates can you expect from the Synology HAS5300 SAS 8 TB?
Up to 241 MB/s sustained transfer rate, with a rotational speed of 7,200 rpm and 256 MB of cache. The sustained rate describes what the drive maintains over time, not a peak measured over a few seconds.
What difference does the SAS interface make on this 8 TB drive?
12 Gb/s SAS offers twice the throughput of SATA and, above all, lower latency, with dual access paths. Note: it requires a SAS controller. A SAS controller accepts a SATA drive, but the reverse is not true.
