What is the Synology M2D20 card used for?
To add two M.2 NVMe SSDs to a NAS to accelerate its cache, without taking up a single drive bay. The 2.5-inch bays remain available for storage.
Which M.2 SSD form factors does this card accept?
M-key M.2 NVMe drives, in 2280 and 22110 form factors. The 22110 is longer than the common 2280: check which one your SSDs use before ordering.
Which slot does this Synology card use?
An eight-lane PCIe 3.0 slot. The card measures 181.9 × 71.75 × 15.8 mm: check the space available in the NAS chassis.
Does this card accept any M.2 SSD?
It is designed for M.2 NVMe drives, and Synology highlights pairing it with its own SNV3000 series NVMe SSDs. An M.2 SATA drive does not fall into this category.
