Can a complete workstation run on this UPS's 700 VA?
Go by the figure in watts: 420 W of usable power, the 700 VA being the apparent power with a power factor of 0.6. Add up the watts drawn by the desktop tower, the monitor and the internet box — it is this total that must stay below 420 W, not the VA rating.
Will all four of my devices be powered during a power cut?
Only three. Three French outlets are battery-backed, while the fourth is surge-protected only. Plug into it a device that can switch off — printer, charger, speakers — and keep the other three for whatever must not stop. All four are standard French outlets.
Which cable is supplied, and how does the UPS connect to the mains?
The UPS connects via an IEC C14 inlet and its 1.5 m input cord is included, along with the quick start guide and the safety instructions. On the output side, the outlets are French sockets: no adapter is needed. However, the box contains neither software nor a communication cable.
Can monitoring software be installed to shut the PC down automatically?
No. The 3P700F has no communication interface — no USB, no Ethernet, no network card slot — and automatic shutdown is not supported. The unit's status is read directly from its LED indicators on the front, and shutting down the workstation is up to you.
Does it regulate the voltage when the power supply is unstable?
It has no voltage stabiliser. In offline mode, it passes mains power through as long as the voltage stays between 184 and 264 V — a range that can be widened to 161–284 V — then switches to battery. Surge protection, meanwhile, remains active at all times.
Which battery does the 3P700F use, and can it be replaced?
A 12 V / 7 Ah sealed lead-acid battery, replaceable: the UPS will easily outlast its first battery. It is monitored by an automatic test and protected against deep discharge. This model does not accept an additional battery module.
Can the UPS be started during a blackout, with no power at the wall socket?
Yes, thanks to its cold start capability: it switches on from its battery even when there is no mains power. You can thus restart an internet box or a workstation in the middle of a power cut, without waiting for the electricity to come back. Its input frequency range of 46 to 70 Hz also lets it cope with an irregular grid.
Is it noisy in a workroom?
No: at less than 25 dB at one metre, it goes unnoticed on a desk. The tower format stays narrow — 81 mm wide, 235 mm deep, 263 mm high — and weighs 3.7 kg. Black, insulated-construction housing, to be stood upright.
Which standards underpin the stated protection?
The surge protection part follows the IEC 61643-11 standard, and the UPS is certified to IEC/EN 62040-1, 62040-2 and 62040-3: safety, electromagnetic compatibility and performance. On top of that come the CE marking, UKCA, Cm and Ukr, with RoHS, WEEE and Batteries Directive compliance.
What installation conditions can it withstand?
From 0 to 40 °C, up to 95% humidity non-condensing and 3,000 m altitude. Its 97% efficiency at full load limits heat dissipation, so it can cope with a non-air-conditioned room, within these limits. It operates at 50-60 Hz nominal and accepts a 220, 230 or 240 V mains supply.
Should you choose the 3P550F or the 3P700F?
Same housing, same outlets, same offline technology: the difference lies in the energy reserve. The 3P550F delivers 330 W with a 4.5 Ah battery; the 3P700F goes up to 420 W with a 7 Ah battery, for 700 g more on the scales. The IEC/EN 62040 certifications are identical on both.
Is the UPS new and under warranty?
Yes: a new and sealed unit, supplied with its invoice, which serves as the 1-year warranty document. The detailed electrical specifications and compliance information are gathered in the Eaton datasheet (PDF).
