This product is covered for 1 year by a manufacturer's warranty (the brand's official warranty). Your iris.ma invoice serves as the warranty document: keep it safe.

Frequently asked questions about this product

Are all four outlets on the 3P900UF battery-backed?
No. Three French outlets switch to battery during a power cut; the fourth is surge-protected only. Reserve the first three for the desktop tower, the monitor and the internet box, and keep the fourth for a device that can switch off without consequence.
Does this UPS correct voltage drops like an AVR model?
No, it has no voltage regulator: it uses an offline topology. It passes mains power through as long as it stays within the 184-264 V range (adjustable from 161 to 284 V) and switches to battery as soon as it goes outside it. On a grid that varies constantly, a line-interactive UPS with AVR is easier on the battery.
Can runtime be extended with an additional battery?
No: extended runtime is not available on this model, which runs on a single 12 V / 9 Ah sealed lead-acid battery. To run longer, you must either reduce the load on the battery-backed outlets or choose a UPS that accepts external battery modules.
Can the battery be replaced when it wears out?
Yes, the battery is replaceable. The UPS tests it automatically, protects it against deep discharge and can cold start, with no mains power present. Replacing the battery rather than the whole unit significantly extends the life of the system.
What is in the box of the Eaton 3P Ellipse 900?
The UPS, its input cable, a USB cable, the quick start guide and the safety instructions. As the outputs are French sockets, you plug your devices' cords straight back in, with no intermediate cord to provide.
Can a phone be charged directly on the UPS?
Yes, it has two charging ports, one USB-A and one USB-C. They are separate from the USB communication port that links the UPS to the PC: charging a mobile therefore takes up none of the four mains outlets.
How much floor space does the 3P900UF UPS take up?
It is remarkably narrow: 81 mm wide, 235 mm long and 263 mm high, and only 4.4 kg. This size slips in between a drawer unit and a desk or against a wall, where a conventional tower UPS takes up much more floor space.
Why do 900 VA only give 540 W of usable power?
Because of the output power factor, 0.6: 900 × 0.6 = 540 W. It is this second figure that matters when sizing your installation. Add up the watts of the desktop tower, the monitor and the internet box plugged into the battery-backed outlets, and keep a margin below 540 W.
Is the UPS noisy once placed on a desk?
It stays below 25 dB measured at one metre, the level of a quiet room. That is what allows it to be installed on a reception desk or next to a workstation occupied all day without disturbing a conversation.
Can the UPS be monitored remotely, from a web browser?
Not as standard: no network card is included and the unit has no Ethernet interface; it is managed via its HID-compatible USB port and its LED display. A communication card slot is provided, and the optional CLOUD-PS card adds real-time status and notifications via a web browser or a mobile app.
How does the PC shut down on its own before the battery is empty?
Through the supplied USB cable and the Eaton UPS Companion software, which closes applications and shuts the system down safely, measures energy consumption and gives access to the UPS settings. As the port is HID-compatible, the system recognises it without any specific driver.
What surge protection does the UPS provide?
Built-in protection compliant with the IEC 61643-11 standard, the one for surge protective devices. The fourth outlet, which is not battery-backed, is there precisely for this purpose: it protects against surges a device that does not need power during an outage, such as a printer or a second monitor.
Is the Eaton 3P Ellipse 3P900UF new and under warranty?
Yes, new equipment, with the invoice serving as the warranty document. The datasheet details the electrical ranges, the battery management and the installation conditions.
