Can you really use it without a computer connected?
Yes. It is a Tizen smart monitor: your streaming apps open directly from the screen, via built-in Wi-Fi 5 and the supplied remote control, with no PC or set-top box connected.
Is there a USB-C port on this Samsung M50F?
No, there is no USB-C. Connectivity is limited to 2 HDMI ports and 2 downstream USB-A 2.0 ports, supplemented by Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.2. It is therefore not possible to power a laptop and display its picture over a single cable: you will need HDMI and the PC's original charger.
Which HDMI version is it, and can you control a console with the remote?
Both inputs are HDMI 1.4 with HDCP 2.2 for protected content, which covers exactly what the panel displays: Full HD at 60 Hz. HDMI-CEC also lets you control the connected device — console, set-top box, player — with the monitor's remote control.
Is it a suitable monitor for fast-paced games?
It tops out at 60 Hz with a 5 ms GtG response time: it is a monitor for office work, streaming and casual gaming, not a high-refresh esports monitor. For Full HD 60 Hz console gaming, the two HDMI inputs are enough.
Is the stand height-adjustable?
No: the simple stand offers tilt only, from −2° to +15°. To raise the panel to eye level, you need a monitor arm or wall mount, as the monitor is VESA 100 × 100 compatible.
What exactly is in the box?
An HDMI cable, a remote control and a 1.5 m power cable. Power is supplied through an external adapter: allow room for the power brick behind the desk and a nearby socket, given the length of the cable.
Does the monitor have built-in speakers?
Yes, 10 W of audio output, with the Adaptive Sound feature, which analyses scenes in real time and tailors the sound to the type of content. Enough to follow a video call or a series without speakers or headphones, and sound mirroring from a mobile device is also supported.

Is the panel bright enough for a bright room?
It is rated at 250 cd/m² (200 cd/m² minimum) with a 1,000:1 contrast ratio and 178°/178° viewing angles: an office level, comfortable indoors but less at ease facing the glare of a large window. The Eye Saver and Flicker Free modes, on the other hand, ease long days in front of the screen.
How good is HDR10 on a monitor in this category?
HDR10 is indeed supported, but it relies on 250 cd/m² brightness, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio and 72% NTSC 1976 coverage with 16.7 million colours: enough to play HDR content, without the rendering of a high-end HDR monitor.
