Frequently asked questions about this product

Do you need to plan for a cable to charge the black JBL Tune 530BT?
Yes: the charging cable is not included, as the box contains only the headphones. Any USB-C cable will do. It is the one thing to know before opening the box, on headphones that are otherwise very complete.
Do these headphones rest on the ear or surround it?
They rest on it: they are on-ear headphones. That explains their featherweight 152 g and their ability to fold flat, but also more limited isolation than headphones that enclose the outer ear.
What battery life does the Tune 530BT offer for music and for calls?
Up to 76 hours of playback and 45 hours of talk time: two distinct figures. A full charge takes less than 2 hours, and 5 minutes of fast charging give you 5 hours of listening.
Do these headphones need an amplifier to sound good?
No: their 33 mm drivers are rated at 30 ohms with a sensitivity of 102 dB at 1 kHz. A phone or computer output drives them without difficulty, across a range of 20 Hz to 20 kHz.
Can you watch a video on the tablet and take a call?
Yes, multipoint keeps two devices paired and switches from one to the other. The link uses Bluetooth 6.0, stated to offer lower latency: picture and sound stay in sync on video calls as well as for films.
How do you customise the sound of these JBL headphones?
Through the JBL Headphones app and its EQ presets — Default, Bass, Vocal — with a voice prompt confirming the active mode. The settings stay stored in the headphones.
Do calls come through clearly from a busy place?
Two beamforming mics pick up your voice in line with the mouth and reduce the background noise transmitted, with a sensitivity of -40 dBV/Pa. They work for the person you are talking to, not on what you hear.
Do these headphones actively cut out bus noise?
No, there is no active cancelling on this model. The cushions rest on the ear and dampen part of the background noise without eliminating it. For headphones that cancel noise electronically, you need to choose a model with active cancelling.
Are the black JBL Tune 530BT headphones new and under warranty?
Yes, new and genuine, with a 1-year warranty provided by the invoice. The full measurements are given in the JBL datasheet.
