What is the PCI slot of the HP Pro 290 G9 PCI for?
It takes a classic full-height PCI expansion card: serial, parallel or acquisition cards still used in workshops, points of sale or laboratories. It comes in addition to a PCIe 4.0 x16 slot for a graphics card and a PCIe 3.0 x1 slot.
Is Windows installed on this tower?
No: the tower is supplied with FreeDOS, without a Windows licence. You need a Windows 11 licence, ideally Pro for a business workstation, or you can install the system of your choice on the 512 GB NVMe SSD.
Can several displays be connected to the HP Pro 290 G9 PCI?
Yes: the rear offers three video outputs — HDMI, DisplayPort and VGA — driven by the processor's Intel UHD Graphics 770. A recent monitor connects via HDMI or DisplayPort, and an older monitor or projector remains usable via VGA.
Is this tower's memory upgradeable?
Yes: the 8 GB are installed as a single DDR4-3200 module and the motherboard has two DIMM slots. A second 8 GB module fits into the free slot to reach 16 GB in dual channel, without removing the first one.
Does the HP Pro 290 G9 PCI have a DVD drive?
Yes: it has a slim 9.5 mm HP DVD writer on the front. It reads and burns DVDs and CDs, handy for installing older business software, archiving documents or reading discs from a supplier or an administration.
Does the tower connect over Wi-Fi?
Yes: it has a Realtek Wi-Fi 6 RTL8852BE (2x2) card with Bluetooth 5.3, in addition to the RJ-45 Ethernet port. The tower can thus be set up far from a network socket, and Bluetooth connects a headset or a wireless printer.
What are the dimensions of the HP Pro 290 G9 PCI?
The tower measures 155 x 303 x 337 mm and weighs 4.7 kg. This compact format fits under the desk or next to the monitor, and its front panel keeps six USB ports, including one USB-C, with the headset and microphone jack within reach.
