Which operating system is installed on this Dell Pro Max Tower T2?
Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, a long-term support release of Linux. Dell also qualifies this platform for Windows 11 Pro: if your business software only runs on Windows, plan for a Windows 11 Pro licence to install, or choose the same tower supplied with Windows 11 Pro.
How many monitors can be connected to the NVIDIA RTX A1000 card?
Four, through its four mini-DisplayPort 1.4a outputs, with the mini-DisplayPort to DisplayPort adapters supplied. The card drives up to 4096 x 2160 at 120 Hz, 5120 x 2880 at 60 Hz or 7680 x 4320 at 30 Hz. To benefit from the RTX A1000, connect your monitors to it rather than to the two DisplayPort outputs on the motherboard.
Can more RAM be added to this workstation?
Yes: the motherboard has four DDR5 UDIMM slots and accepts up to 128 GB. The 32 GB supplied take up two slots (2 x 16 GB), leaving two free. With four modules, the speed drops from 5,600 to 4,800 MT/s, or 4,400 MT/s with dual-rank modules, according to Dell's table.
Can a second SSD or a hard drive be added?
Yes. The tower offers three M.2 2230/2280 slots for PCIe NVMe SSDs and SATA connectors for 3.5-inch hard drives. Dell states that a front fan is required as soon as several SSDs or hard drives are combined: check that it is fitted before adding a storage drive.
Can a more powerful graphics card be installed later?
Yes, depending on the power supply. The PCIe Gen 5 x16 slot takes the cards Dell lists for this tower, from the RTX A400 to the RTX 6000 Ada 48 GB. The 360 W and 500 W units offer only one 8-pin graphics connector, while the 1,500 W unit offers four: check the one installed before buying a more demanding card.
Are the keyboard and mouse supplied with the tower?
Yes: the Dell Pro KM5221W wireless set comes with the workstation, with a French AZERTY keyboard layout. The front ports thus stay free for your USB sticks, external drives and headsets, and the desk stays clear of peripheral cables.
