Can more RAM be added to the HP Z2 Tower G1i?
Yes: the motherboard has four DDR5 DIMM slots and accepts up to 192 GB of non-ECC memory. The 16 GB supplied sit on a single 16 GB module: three slots remain free to grow the workstation as your projects evolve, without replacing the original module.
How many monitors can be connected to this workstation?
The NVIDIA RTX A400 card offers four mini-DisplayPort outputs, and the motherboard two DisplayPort 1.4 outputs linked to the processor's integrated graphics. For 3D software, connect your monitors to the NVIDIA card; a monitor with a standard DisplayPort input connects with a mini-DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable or adapter.
How many SSDs and hard drives can be added?
The motherboard offers three M.2 2280 slots for SSDs, one PCIe Gen 5 x4 and two PCIe Gen 4 x4, as well as an M.2 2230 slot reserved for Wi-Fi. The 1 TB SSD supplied uses one of them. There are also one internal and one external 3.5-inch bay; the internal bay requires the HP B5DU5AA cable kit.
Which ports are on the front and on the back?
On the front: four USB-A 10 Gbps, two USB-C 20 Gbps and a headphone/microphone combo jack. On the back: two USB-A 10 Gbps, three USB-A 480 Mbps for the keyboard and mouse, two DisplayPort 1.4, a Gigabit RJ-45 network port, and one audio line-in and one line-out.
Can the Z2 Tower G1i be installed in a server rack?
Yes: HP offers a rail kit to mount it in a 19-inch rack, where it takes up 4U. The kit is sold separately; without it, the tower stands under or beside a desk on its feet, measuring 17.5 cm wide, 42.6 cm deep and 38.8 cm high.
Does the Z2 Tower G1i include a TPM security chip?
Yes: a TPM 2.0 chip is built into the motherboard and can be switched to FIPS 140-2 certified mode. It keeps disk encryption keys and system credentials away from storage, as many corporate security policies require.
