The A77H is the largest monitor in the A Series: a 531 mm horizontal cabinet lining up two 7-inch woofers, a 3.5-inch midrange driver and the X-ART tweeter. It is a midfield monitor: it is meant for control rooms where you listen from a greater distance than at a desk. It is sold individually.

A midrange driver just for the voice
In a two-way speaker, the woofer has to cover everything from the bass up to the frequencies where the ear is most sensitive. The A77H hands this range to a 3.5-inch mineral-fiber Dome Cone Hybrid midrange driver: it takes over from the woofers at 400 Hz and hands off to the X-ART tweeter at 3 kHz. Each way has its own amplifier, 250 W peak PWM for the woofers, 70 W and 20 W peak Class A/B for the midrange and the tweeter.
Two 7-inch woofers for the bass
Two 7-inch woofers with 38 mm voice coils and two front ports reach down to 34 Hz at -6 dB. Each speaker handles 106 dB SPL peak at 1 m with sine bursts, and 118 dB SPL with weighted noise. Peak and thermal limiters dedicated to each driver keep watch when the level rises; a gold or purple LED on the front shows when they act.

The rear panel carries the XLR and RCA inputs, the level control from -12 to +12 dB, the Pure and UNR voicings and the four room adaptation buttons: Bass, Desk, Presence, Treble. The RJ45 port opens up the free A Control software, which adjusts several speakers at once, applies six parametric filters and a delay of up to 10 ms per speaker, or loads a correction calculated with Sonarworks SoundID.

Is the A77H sold as a pair?
No, it is sold individually: the box contains one speaker, its power cord and the quick start guide. For stereo listening, you need two. At 17.1 kg and 531 mm wide, plan for furniture or stands able to carry it; four M8 threaded inserts under the cabinet accept a bracket.
What does the midrange of a 3-way monitor bring?
It isolates the range where the ear is most sensitive. On the A77H, a 3.5-inch Dome Cone Hybrid midrange takes over from the two 7-inch woofers at 400 Hz and hands over to the X-ART tweeter at 3 kHz; each way has its own amplifier. The result: 34 Hz to 45 kHz at -6 dB and 106 dB SPL peak per speaker at 1 m.
How powerful is the amplification?
340 W peak in total, split across three amplifiers: 250 W peak, or 200 W RMS, in PWM for the two woofers, 70 W peak, or 55 W RMS, in class A/B for the midrange, and 20 W peak, or 15 W RMS, in class A/B for the tweeter. Independent peak and thermal limiters protect each driver.
Which sources can be connected to the A77H?
One balanced XLR input and one unbalanced RCA input, on the rear; the Input Select button chooses between them. The input accepts up to +19 dBu, enough to take the line output of an audio interface or a mixing console. Audio cables are not included; the user manual allows 100 m of cable on XLR and 10 m on RCA.
What are the Pure and UNR voicings for?
Pure gives the most neutral response, measured in anechoic conditions: it is the setting for mixing and mastering. UNR recreates the more colored curve of ADAM's earlier AX Series speakers. A third position, Ext, activates the settings sent by the A Control software; the rear level knob is then ignored.
How do I adapt the speaker to my room?
With four buttons on the rear panel: Bass (+2 to -4 dB) compensates for a nearby wall, Desk (0 to -4 dB) for the reflection from a desk, Presence (±1 dB) for overly prominent mids and Treble (±1.5 dB) for the highs. The user manual suggests, for example, -2 dB on Bass near a plaster wall. The A Control software adds 6 parametric filters, level and a delay.
Do I need a computer to set it up?
No: the essential settings are on the rear panel. The RJ45 Ethernet port is also used to control one or more speakers from the free A Control software (Windows and macOS, downloaded after registering in the MyADAM area), to apply a delay of 0 to 10 ms, to import a room correction calculated with Sonarworks SoundID and to update the firmware. The network cable is not included.
