Seven inches of bass
in the middle of the range.
The T7V is the middle monitor of the T Series: the same U-ART ribbon tweeter and the same amplification as the T5V, with a 7-inch woofer that reaches down to 39 Hz. For the home studio that wants more bass than the T5V. It is sold individually.

More bass, same power
Compared with the T5V, the T7V keeps its two Class D amplifiers, 50 W for the woofer and 20 W for the tweeter. What changes is the surface area: a 7-inch polypropylene woofer instead of 5, reaching down to 39 Hz instead of 45 Hz, and a pair that goes up to 110 dB SPL at 1 m instead of 106. The crossover to the tweeter sits lower, at 2.6 kHz, and the beveled cabinet limits diffraction at its edges.

The tweeter is not a dome but a polyimide ribbon folded like an accordion: its folds draw in and then squeeze out the air, four times as much as a piston of the same surface area, up to 25 kHz. The waveguide around it widens the accurate listening area. Crossover filtering and equalization are handled by a DSP.
The essentials on the back
A metal plate brings together the XLR input for +4 dBu, the RCA input for -10 dBV and the switch that selects between them, the volume and the two LF and HF switches at ±2 dB. The power supply automatically accepts 100 to 240 V. For the flattest bass response, the user manual asks for at least 40 cm between the speaker and the nearest wall, as the port is at the rear; otherwise, set LF to -2 dB.

Is the T7V sold as a pair?
No, it is sold individually: the box contains one speaker, its power cord and the quick start guide. For stereo listening, you need two, one for each channel of the audio interface or mixing console. Audio cables are not included.
T5V or T7V: which one should I choose?
It all depends on the bass you expect and the space available. The T7V has a 7-inch woofer instead of 5: it goes down to 39 Hz instead of 45 Hz and a pair reaches 110 dB SPL at 1 m versus 106 dB. Same 70 W amplification and same U-ART tweeter; the T7V is 347 mm high and weighs 7.1 kg, versus 298 mm and 5.7 kg.
How does the U-ART tweeter differ from a dome tweeter?
A dome pushes air like a piston. The U-ART is a polyimide ribbon folded like an accordion: its folds draw air in and then push it out as they close up, which moves four times more air for the same surface area. The highs thus extend up to 25 kHz, and the surrounding waveguide widens the area where listening remains accurate.
How do I connect the T7V?
Via the balanced XLR input, designed for a +4 dBu level, or the unbalanced RCA input, designed for -10 dBV. A switch on the rear selects between the two and sets the sensitivity. The power supply automatically accepts 100 to 240 V at 50 or 60 Hz: you plug in the supplied cord and flip the power switch, whose green indicator lights up.
What are the LF and HF switches for?
They correct for the room in 2 dB steps. LF acts below 300 Hz: set it to -2 dB when the speaker has to stay less than 40 cm from a wall, which inflates the bass. HF acts above 5 kHz: +2 dB in a heavily treated room that dulls the highs, -2 dB in a reverberant room. The 0 position keeps the original response.
Where should I place the speakers?
About one meter from the listening position, tweeters at ear height, each at the same distance from the side wall and the rear wall. Leave at least 40 cm between the speaker and the nearest wall: the bass reflex port is on the rear. Decoupled stands keep the desk or furniture from resonating in the bass.
Can a subwoofer be added to the T7V?
Yes: the ADAM Audio T10S subwoofer was designed for the T Series monitors. Both monitors connect to its outputs, and its filter set to 80 Hz, the position intended for T Series near-field monitors, hands the bass over to it, while its filtered outputs relieve the speakers of it.
