adjustable by DSP.
The A7V succeeds the A7X, ADAM Audio's award-winning two-way monitor. It pairs a 7-inch mineral-fiber woofer with a handmade X-ART tweeter, and entrusts its settings to digital processing controlled from the back or from a computer. It is sold individually, in black.

The bass of a 7-inch woofer
The multilayer mineral-fiber woofer, with a 33 mm voice coil, reaches down to 40 Hz at -6 dB, backed by two front ports. It hands off at 2.8 kHz to the X-ART tweeter, whose folded diaphragm extends up to 45 kHz in a waveguide covering 120° horizontally. Amplification is hybrid: 110 W peak PWM for the woofer, 20 W peak Class A/B for the tweeter. Each speaker reaches 105 dB SPL peak at 1 m.

On the back, the familiar controls: XLR and RCA inputs, level from -12 to +12 dB, Pure and UNR voicings, room adaptation with four buttons. The RJ45 port connects the A7V to the free A Control software: remote adjustment of several speakers, six parametric filters, delay, and new filters or settings loaded into the firmware as updates are released.
Room correction based on a measurement
The four buttons on the rear panel correct by ear: nearby wall, desk, mids, highs. To go further, the A7V accepts filters calculated by Sonarworks SoundID from a measurement of the room: A Control imports them and sends them to the speaker, where they stay active, in the Ext voicing position, until the next change.

Is the A7V sold as a pair?
No, it is sold individually: the box contains one black speaker, its power cord and the quick start guide. For stereo listening, you need two. The A7V can also complete a multichannel system, and the rotating module of its tweeter lets you lay it horizontally while keeping the right dispersion.
What is the difference from the A4V?
The woofer: 7 inches on the A7V versus 4 on the A4V. It takes the response down to 40 Hz at -6 dB, versus 52 Hz, and raises the level to 105 dB SPL peak per speaker at 1 m, versus 100 dB. The amplification, the X-ART tweeter, the settings and the network control are the same; the A7V is 337 mm high and weighs 8.7 kg.
Which sources can be connected to the A7V?
One balanced XLR input and one unbalanced RCA input, on the rear; the Input Select button chooses between them. The input accepts up to +19 dBu, enough to take the line output of an audio interface or a mixing console. Audio cables are not included; the user manual allows 100 m of cable on XLR and 10 m on RCA.
What are the Pure and UNR voicings for?
Pure gives the most neutral response, measured in anechoic conditions: it is the setting for mixing and mastering. UNR recreates the more colored curve of ADAM's earlier AX Series speakers. A third position, Ext, activates the settings sent by the A Control software; the rear level knob is then ignored.
How do I adapt the speaker to my room?
With four buttons on the rear panel: Bass (+2 to -4 dB) compensates for a nearby wall, Desk (0 to -4 dB) for the reflection from a desk, Presence (±1 dB) for overly prominent mids and Treble (±1.5 dB) for the highs. The user manual suggests, for example, -2 dB on Bass near a plaster wall. The A Control software adds 6 parametric filters, level and a delay.
Do I need a computer to set it up?
No: the essential settings are on the rear panel. The RJ45 Ethernet port is also used to control one or more speakers from the free A Control software (Windows and macOS, downloaded after registering in the MyADAM area), to apply a delay of 0 to 10 ms, to import a room correction calculated with Sonarworks SoundID and to update the firmware. The network cable is not included.
How do I install the A7V?
Four M8 threaded inserts under the cabinet take a mounting plate or a bracket. The tweeter and waveguide module rotates: you turn it with an Allen key, with the tweeter protected by masking tape, to keep the right dispersion when the speaker changes orientation. The user manual recommends doing this before installation.
