The T8V takes the ADAM Audio T Series formula the furthest: an 8-inch woofer, a 70 W amplifier all to itself and bass that reaches down to 33 Hz. It is aimed first at those who produce bass-heavy music. It is sold individually.

Power at the bottom of the spectrum
The 8-inch polypropylene woofer gets a 70 W Class D amplifier, where the T7V has 50. The result: 33 Hz at -6 dB, and a pair that reaches 118 dB SPL at 1 m. The U-ART tweeter, powered by 20 W, takes over at 2.6 kHz and extends up to 25 kHz; its waveguide widens the listening area where the stereo image stays accurate.

The closer a driver gets to a wall, floor or ceiling, the more its bass swells. The user manual therefore asks for at least 40 cm between the speaker and the nearest wall, all the more so as the bass reflex port is at the rear. If space is short, the LF switch cuts 2 dB below 300 Hz; the HF switch boosts or cuts 2 dB above 5 kHz depending on whether the room deadens or brightens the treble.
The XLR input, for +4 dBu, and the RCA input, for -10 dBV, are selected with a switch; the power supply automatically accepts 100 to 240 V. Place the speakers at the same distance from the walls, tweeters at ear height, on decoupled stands.

Is the T8V sold as a pair?
No, it is sold individually: the box contains one speaker, its power cord and the quick start guide. For stereo listening, you need two, one for each channel of the audio interface or mixing console. Audio cables are not included.
What does the T8V offer over the T7V?
More bass and more level. Its 8-inch woofer, driven by 70 W instead of 50 W, goes down to 33 Hz instead of 39 Hz, and a pair reaches 118 dB SPL at 1 m versus 110 dB. It is aimed in particular at bass-rich productions. On the other hand, it is 400 mm high and weighs 9.8 kg.
How does the U-ART tweeter differ from a dome tweeter?
A dome pushes air like a piston. The U-ART is a polyimide ribbon folded like an accordion: its folds draw air in and then push it out as they close up, which moves four times more air for the same surface area. The highs thus extend up to 25 kHz, and the surrounding waveguide widens the area where listening remains accurate.
How do I connect the T8V?
Via the balanced XLR input, designed for a +4 dBu level, or the unbalanced RCA input, designed for -10 dBV. A switch on the rear selects between the two and sets the sensitivity. The power supply automatically accepts 100 to 240 V at 50 or 60 Hz: you plug in the supplied cord and flip the power switch, whose green indicator lights up.
What are the LF and HF switches for?
They correct for the room in 2 dB steps. LF acts below 300 Hz: set it to -2 dB when the speaker has to stay less than 40 cm from a wall, which inflates the bass. HF acts above 5 kHz: +2 dB in a heavily treated room that dulls the highs, -2 dB in a reverberant room. The 0 position keeps the original response.
Where should I place the speakers?
About one meter from the listening position, tweeters at ear height, each at the same distance from the side wall and the rear wall. Leave at least 40 cm between the speaker and the nearest wall: the bass reflex port is on the rear. Decoupled stands keep the desk or furniture from resonating in the bass.
Can a subwoofer be added to the T8V?
Yes: the ADAM Audio T10S subwoofer was designed for the T Series monitors. Both monitors connect to its outputs, and its filter set to 80 Hz, the position intended for T Series near-field monitors, hands the bass over to it, while its filtered outputs relieve the speakers of it.
