The Uber FX2 packs into a single cabinet a five-driver speaker, a two-channel mixer with effects and a battery that lasts up to 100 hours. You pull it like a suitcase, plug in a microphone and a guitar, and the party, the ceremony or the outdoor meeting has its sound, with no power outlet to look for.

Sound that reaches the whole audience

The low end comes from an 8-inch woofer on the front, the highs from two 1-inch tweeters working in stereo. Two 3-inch drivers fire sideways: they widen the dispersion to 320°, so listeners seated at an angle still hear the voice, and the musician playing next to the speaker hears himself without a stage monitor. The amplifier delivers 100 W RMS in mono-bridged mode, 200 W peak, up to 110 dB SPL, over a 60 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response.

Two mics, a guitar, a playlist

Each of the mixer's two channels has a combo input: a microphone connects via XLR, a guitar or a keyboard via 6.35 mm jack, with a LINE or INST switch depending on the source level. Each channel has its gain, a two-band EQ, treble at 12 kHz and bass at 80 Hz over ±15 dB, and its amount of reverb or echo. Music comes in separately, over Bluetooth 5.0 or through one of the two 3.5 mm mini-jack aux inputs, and a jack line output sends the mix to a recorder or another speaker.

Music for the playlist, Live for the voice

Two EQ presets apply to the whole speaker. Music lifts bass and treble for recorded music. Live adds a low-cut filter and slightly brings forward the speech frequencies, for a talk or singing. The free Alto Pro app, on iOS or Android, takes over the whole mix remotely: main volume, main EQ, then volume, EQ and effects of each source, from the back of the room.

A hundred hours away from an outlet

The 12 V, 84 Wh lead-acid battery gives up to 100 hours of sound; the real runtime drops with volume, heat or cold and battery age. It charges through the supplied power cable and takes up to 10 hours, faster with the speaker switched off. The speaker can stay plugged in without overcharging; the battery lasts longer when recharged after each outing than when left empty for several months. After an hour without use, the Uber FX2 switches itself off and wakes up at the press of a button.

A storage box, two USB ports and a bottle opener

The top lid slides over a compartment to store a phone or keys; it hides a fast-charging 5 V 2.2 A USB-A port and a second aux input. Another USB-A port, 5 V 1 A, is on the front. Both charge devices when the speaker is on, and do not play files. A bottle opener is built into the side, and blue lighting outlines the front.

As a pair, they play in stereo

Two Uber FX2 link wirelessly with the Link button: the first one is paired with the phone, then you hold Link on each. One takes the left, the other the right, and a press of the Bluetooth button swaps the sides. Only the Bluetooth music plays in stereo; a microphone or an instrument stays on the speaker it is plugged into.

Fully charge the battery before first use: the speaker ships with a deliberately reduced charge, and a full charge can take up to 10 hours.
