The U240:1M mixes four sources, amplifies them at 240 W on one channel and puts announcements ahead of the music, in a half-rack-width enclosure. It targets small and medium installations: shop, restaurant, classroom, house of worship, conference room.

The same unit delivers its full power on a 100 V or 70 V line, to drive several transformer speakers, as well as in low impedance into 4 or 8 ohms. The choice is made with DIP switches, and the 4-pin output terminal separates the two connections.

Two XLR mic/line inputs take dynamic or condenser microphones, with 48 V phantom power switched on the rear. Two RCA aux inputs take a player or a music receiver, their stereo summed to mono. The front carries a gain per input, bass and treble at ±12 dB and the master volume; a switchable 120 Hz high-pass filter removes unwanted low end.
The announcement before the music
On the MIC2 input, the VOX function lowers the music by 0 to 45 dB as soon as a voice exceeds the set threshold, then restores it. The MIC1 input accepts a call station through its 5-pin Euro terminal: the talk key triggers priority and, if desired, a two-tone chime. An emergency input, line or 100 V, takes precedence over all the others to relay a safety message.
Two amplifiers in a single rack unit
At 44.2 mm high and 218 mm wide, the U240:1M takes up half a rack unit. The supplied brackets fix it alone in a 19-inch rack or side by side with a second unit of the series, in 1U. It can also sit on a shelf or be screwed under a counter. Its four-stage fan, from off to fast, follows the temperature to stay quiet at low power.

Can the U240:1M drive speakers on a 100 V line?
Yes. It delivers its 240 W in high impedance, on a 100 V or 70 V line, as well as in low impedance into 4 or 8 ohms. The choice is made with DIP switches on the rear, and the speakers connect to a 4-pin Euroblock terminal, two pins for each mode.
How many sources can be connected?

Can it be switched off remotely?
Yes. A dry contact wired to the REMOTE OFF terminal puts the unit in standby, where it only draws 1.25 W. This is handy to turn off a shop's sound system from the electrical cabinet or a timer, without touching the amplifier.
Which call station should be used with the U240:1M?
Dynacord specifies it with the PLE-1CS call station, which connects to the MIC1 input through a lockable Euro connector and triggers the priority contact. The PLE-1SCS heavy-duty call station, from the same Plena range, uses the same connection with a heavier metal base.
