How long does the Back-UPS BE650G2-FR run on battery?
10 minutes at 50% load, i.e. 200 W, and 5 minutes at 70%, i.e. 280 W. A full recharge then takes 6 hours: after a long outage, the UPS is not immediately ready to handle a second one.
How many of the eight outlets stay powered during an outage?
Six out of eight. The other two FR outlets are surge-protected but switch off with the mains. Six battery-backed outlets is generous for a unit of this size: at 650 VA, you usually find three or four battery outlets.
Does the UPS protect the internet router and the phone line?
Yes, it protects the data lines: RJ45 telephone and RJ45 Ethernet network, in addition to the power outlets. Its surge protector absorbs 310 joules on the mains side.
Can the UPS be adjusted for an unstable grid or a generator?
Yes, its voltage sensitivity is adjustable, precisely to suit unusual power supplies and generators. This is what stops it from constantly switching to battery when fed by a slightly irregular source.
What does the BE650G2-FR's wiring fault indicator report?
It warns you of a dangerous wiring problem in the wall circuit — missing earth, live and neutral reversed. It is a feature rarely found at this price, and it reveals an installation fault that endangers all connected equipment, the UPS included.
What does the UPS display show during an outage?
An illuminated display distinguishes four states: normal operation, battery mode, replace battery and overload. Three audible alarms back them up: switch to battery, low battery threshold, and a continuous tone in the event of overload.
How long does it take to switch to battery?
6 milliseconds typical, 10 maximum. The output waveform is then a stepped approximation to a sine wave, built up in steps: this is standard for off-line UPS units in this range.
Can you charge a phone on the Back-UPS BE650G2-FR?
Yes, a USB charging port is built into the unit, in addition to the eight FR outlets. It powers a phone or tablet without taking up one of the six battery-backed outlets.
How many watts can you really connect to this 650 VA unit?
400 W, not 650. It is the wattage that counts: an office desktop tower, a monitor and a router fit within it, but not a gaming PC or a laser printer. Beyond that, the UPS sounds its overload alarm as a continuous tone.
How long does the battery last before it needs replacing?
2 to 5 years depending on use and temperature. A periodic self-test monitors it and signals that a replacement is due before it fails, via the dedicated indicator on the display — you do not find out on the day of an outage.
How much space does the UPS take up, and is it noisy?
13 cm wide, 36.5 cm deep, 12 cm high, weighing 4 kg: a compact format that slips behind a desktop tower. It is rated at 45 dBA, so it is better placed on the floor than next to the monitor.
Is the APC Back-UPS BE650G2-FR new and under warranty?
