Frequently asked questions about this product

Will this Sony lens fit my camera body?
It has an E mount, the mount used by Sony mirrorless cameras, and covers 24 × 36 full frame. On an APS-C body with an E mount, it works, but the framing gets tighter.
What does an f/1.4 aperture make possible on a 24 mm lens?
Handheld night photography, and separating a foreground subject from a blurred background despite the wide angle. That is the combination sought after for night photography and indoor reportage.
What kind of background blur does this lens produce?
Its 11-blade circular aperture rounds off out-of-focus points of light. Eleven blades is more than the usual nine: the bokeh stays round even when you stop down slightly.
How does this lens maintain sharpness at the edges of the frame?
With XA and ED optical elements. The former correct the distortions of a wide-aperture wide-angle lens, the latter reduce colour fringing on high-contrast edges.
Is this lens weather-resistant?
Yes: it has a weather-resistant design. That matters for a landscape lens, often taken out in bad weather.
Is this lens stabilised?
No: it has no optical stabilisation. Its f/1.4 aperture more than makes up for this in low light, and a body with sensor stabilisation takes over.
Is this Sony FE 24mm f/1.4 GM lens new and under warranty?
Yes, it is a new Sony product, reference SEL24F14GM, a prime lens from the G Master range. The invoice serves as the warranty document, for a period of 1 year.
