Frequently asked questions about this product

Is the Galaxy A56 5G really waterproof? Can I take it to the pool or the beach?
No to the pool and the beach: it is not recommended. The IP67 rating protects the device against dirt and splashes, and corresponds to laboratory submersion in up to 1 metre of fresh water, for 30 minutes at most. This resistance is not permanent: it decreases with normal wear.
How are the screen and back of the Galaxy A56 5G protected against scratches?
By Corning® Gorilla® Glass Victus®+ on both the front and the back, and a solid metal frame. Two exceptions to be aware of: the Victus®+ rear glass does not include the camera glass, and the frame excludes the volume and side keys as well as the SIM tray.
How many years of Android updates will the Galaxy A56 5G receive?
Up to six generations of Android upgrades and up to six years of security updates: a phone designed to be kept for a long time. It runs Android with the One UI 7 interface. Availability and timing vary by model and market.
What do the advertised 5,000 mAh and 29 hours really amount to?
Up to 29 hours of video playback without recharging, measured by UX Connect Research between 16 and 27 January 2025 in the United Kingdom, on pre-launch units on LTE and 5G Sub6, with default settings. And 5,000 mAh is the “typical” value: the minimum rated capacity is 4,905 mAh (IEC 61960 standard). 45 W charging.
Is there a 3.5 mm headphone jack on the Galaxy A56 5G?
Headphone output goes through the USB Type-C port: you will need USB-C headphones or a Bluetooth 5.3 connection. The port is also USB 2.0, not USB 3: to transfer large files, Quick Share over Wi-Fi is an alternative (Bluetooth Low Energy and Wi-Fi connection required).
Does the Galaxy A56 5G have optical zoom, and does the 50 MP apply to all the sensors?
No to both. Zoom is digital, up to 10x: the three rear sensors are a 50 MP f/1.8 wide-angle, a 12 MP ultra-wide f/2.2 and a 5 MP macro f/2.4, with no telephoto. The 50 MP applies only to the rear wide-angle, which benefits from autofocus, optical image stabilisation (OIS) and Nightography mode in low light.
Does the Galaxy A56 5G screen really offer 6.7 usable inches?
6.5 inches in practice. The 6.7 inches are measured as a full rectangle; with the rounded corners deducted, the diagonal drops to 6.5 inches, and the actual viewing area is further reduced by the camera cut-out. Super AMOLED FHD+ 120 Hz panel, 162.2 × 77.5 × 7.4 mm and 198 g.
Does the screen stay readable in direct sunlight, and does it tire the eyes?
Yes, it stays readable: the Super AMOLED FHD+ panel reaches 1,200 nits in High Brightness Mode and Vision Booster adds clarity whatever the ambient light. It carries SGS Eye Care certification, awarded for its ability to reduce the harmful effects of blue light.
Is the full 256 GB of the Galaxy A56 5G free at first start-up?
No: the capacity actually available depends on the preloaded software, so part of the 256 GB is already taken; memory and storage options also vary by country, region or carrier. In terms of performance, the Octa-Core processor (2.9 / 2.6 / 1.9 GHz), the 8 GB of RAM and an optimised cooling system handle multitasking, streaming and gaming.
Up to what quality does the Galaxy A56 5G record video, and what are the editing limits?
Video in 4K UHD (3840 × 2160) at 30 fps, slow motion at 240 fps in HD, and video selfies in Super HDR with the 12 MP f/2.2 front camera. Editing on the phone is capped: 90 minutes per clip, 180 minutes of combined editable footage and 60 clips per project.
What do you need to use Circle to Search and the Galaxy AI photo tools?
An internet connection, a compatible app and sometimes an update to Android and the Google app. Circle to Search works by circling an object or text on the screen; the accuracy of the results is not guaranteed and availability varies by country, language and model. Also included: Object Eraser, custom filters and choosing the best expression in a group photo.
Can I transfer my data from an iPhone to the Galaxy A56 5G?
Yes, with Smart Switch: photos, videos, contacts and apps. By cable, the iPhone must be running iOS 5 or later and the Galaxy Android 4.3 or later. After that, Quick Share exchanges files with non-Galaxy devices, including iOS devices and PCs — Windows 10 2004 or later, Intel Bluetooth/Wi-Fi drivers, Bluetooth Low Energy and Wi-Fi connection.
