Can you hear yourself speak while wearing the Kensington H1000?
Yes. The Sidetone effect lets you hear your own voice in the headset, so you can check at all times that you are coming through clearly. At the same time, the in-line controls on the cable let you mute or unmute the mic with one finger, confirmed by an indicator light.
Can the mic be worn on the left side?
Yes. The mic boom rotates through 270° and can be worn on either the right or the left side. The headband is adjustable and covered in faux leather, and the “do not disturb” light follows the boom, since it sits at the back of the mic.
Can my colleagues see the “do not disturb” light?
Yes, that is the whole point: the light sits at the back of the mic boom and turns red as soon as you switch it on, to cut down on interruptions from colleagues. The other indicator lights likewise confirm volume, play/pause and mute.
What is in the box, and does the headset plug into a USB-A port?
The box contains the headset, a welcome card, the user manual, the warranty certificate and the declaration of conformity. The connection is wired, via USB-C, through a 1.80 m tangle-free braided cable: you will need an adapter if your computer only has USB-A ports.
Does the mic really filter out keyboard noise and the sound of nearby colleagues?
Yes. The mic with directional noise cancellation (DNC) removes unwanted background noise at the workstation, above all typing and surrounding voices. Its frequency response is centred on the voice, from 300 Hz to 5 kHz, with a sensitivity of -40 dB at 1 kHz.
Is it comfortable over a full day of calls?
That is what it is made for: 0.19 kg on the scales, an adjustable headband padded with foam and PU under a faux leather cover, and an on-ear design — the ear cushions rest on the ears instead of enclosing them. Overall it measures 170 × 191 × 30 mm.
Do you need to install a driver or software to use it?
No. The H1000 is plug-and-play: you plug it in and it is recognised on Windows, macOS and Chrome OS, with Microsoft Teams, Zoom and the main calling apps. Volume, mic mute, play/pause and “do not disturb” mode are all controlled from the in-line control on the cable.
Can you also listen to music with this headset?
Yes. The 40 mm speakers cover 20 Hz to 20 kHz at 32 Ω, and the in-line control has a play/pause button as well as volume. The mic, however, remains tuned for the voice: this is a meeting headset that handles music between two calls.
Can this headset stand up to being carried around every day?
Its construction points that way: an ABS housing, a tangle-free braided nylon cable, foam and PU headband padding, and an operating range of -30 to 50 °C (storage from -40 to 60 °C).
Is the Kensington H1000 new and under warranty?
Yes, it is new and sealed in its original packaging, supplied with its invoice, which serves as the warranty document for 1 year, together with the manufacturer's warranty certificate and declaration of conformity. The full measurements are in the Kensington datasheet (PDF).
